Ford Torino 1974 Description
Up for auction is my 1974 Ford Gran Torino Elite with 38,736 actual miles. This is an unrestored vehicle with the original paint, vinyl top, and interior. It also has the original spare tire and all 4 original steel wheels and spoke hubcaps. This Gran Torino has the 351 Windsor which runs flawlessly. The air conditioning has been converted to R134 and blows cold air. It also has cruise control which works, and a power drivers seat. It has a clock which works occasionally and a gas gauge that is not accurate. The AM/FM radio with 8 track works, but the 8 track plays the tapes too fast. The BF Goodrich Radial TA's and the wheels are new with approximately 500 miles on them. It has true dual exhaust with new Thrush mufflers and has an extremely nice rumble to it. She runs flawlessly and shifts smoothly with no shimmy or vibrations whatsoever. Since the paint is original, there are some flaws which are to be expected with a 41 year old car (refer to picture of hood). The vinyl top also has some slight discoloration in spots but is not too noticeable. There are no tears in the interior, nor are there any cracks in the dash. There is absolutely no pitting in the exterior chrome; the frame underneath has the typical surface type rust wich is to be expected. I have the original owners manual and the original build sheet as well. The headliner is tight with no sags but there are two small holes that can be seen, and a bigger hole above the passenger side sun visor that you cannot see as long as the visor is flipped up. It looks like a mouse did the damage prior to myownership. During my ownership, she is stored in a climate controlled garage and never driven in rain or snow.To summarize,if you are looking for a"mint" or "showroom" condition vehicle, this is not it. What you are getting is a beautiful example of an original, unrestored car that still has a beautiful shine to it, and is mechanically sound. It has had a recent tune-up, oil change, and has been inspected by a certified mechanic. I would not hesitate to drive this care anywhere!
