Ford Mustang 1965 Description
1965 Mustang Convertible with the very rare A Code Option (Factory 289 4 Barrel, 225 HP Engine), and 4 speed. Only 71650 miles on this beauty. This is a real deal factory A Code, not a lesser horse power engine converted, plus a factory 4 speed and drop top. Awesome and rare combination.Brand new wheels compliment the factory Vintage Burgundy Metallic paint color and black Pony interior with white inserts. The white top and white wall tires set off the exterior. Some of the chrome trim has been replaced over the last couple years but much of the original pieces were in such excellent shape that they were left in place.
New (correct) leaf springs have just been installed and the car rides at the perfect factory height without the need for extra springs or helpers. Just the way Ford designed it. Also recently installed is a power brake conversion, and a power steering conversion with a "U Joint" steering coupler instead of the old style "Rag" joint. This gives the steering a much nicer, direct feel instead of the disconnected feel of a rag joint. All the bulbs have been replaced in the dashboard if you want to do some night driving. The 4 speed shifter is new for a precise and accurate feel when going through the gears. The console and plate were also replaced when the new shifter was installed.
The interior looks great! No issues with the seats, carpets, door panels, or dashboard. A new wood steering wheel has just been installed complete with new horn button. Also new is the chrome air cleaner assembly.
The engine runs great and has lots of power. Sounds great through the dual exhaust with a nice mellow rumble. The carb had been replaced at some point and the engine now has an Edelbrock carb on it with a manual choke. If there was anything I would change on the car it would be the carb. Not that it doesn't work well (it works fine) but I just like factory things.
What is so nice about this car is that you can feel it has never been torn apart and rebuilt. Sure, there are replacement parts on the car but it has never been ripped apart due to major rust repair or an accident and you can feel the difference when you drive a car like this. If you need any other information just ask before it gets too close to the end of the auction close.
