Ford Model A 1930 Description

This auction is for a 1930 Ford Model A Standard Rumble seat Roadster. The car is a 2 owner car and was sold brand new in our town. First owner was a lady who kept the car 32 years until 1962 when the current owner purchased it. He was 17 at the time and is now 73 years old. Due to health issues and other concerns he has finally decided to part with the car. I would classify this car as asurvivorvehicle because of how close to original it is. Still has it's original motor, trans and rear from day one.It still retains all it's original Henry Ford sheet metal. No repair, patche, or replacement panels. The bead along all 4 fenders are good and clean, no cracks or welds of any type. The car is rock solid top to bottom. The passenger side running board is missing it's material and there are a couple of small holes that can be easily repaired. THATS IT. You can see by the pics that the paint is chipped off in numerousareas. I think it gives it character . The car was repainted in the late 50's and only that one time. Sometime in the late 60's the current owner had the convertible top replaced but it still retains it's original pads. He also had the engine over hauled and installed adjustable valve lifters. Also a new clutch and other mechanical essentials were done at that time. The car has only been used periodically from the late 70's until now. It has always been garaged in his cellar where it sleeps next to the warm furnace. As you can see the car still retains it's original interior but is really worn from age. 2 back tires are new 2 front tires are getting thin. Mechanically the car is sound. Get in and drive it anywhere . Lights, horn etc work. We are currently looking for the side curtains so we will update the ad if we find them. Car has a current Maine registration and proper transfer paper work should you need a title in your state. This is a car that I would drive and enjoy just the way it is or you could do it up nicer as you go along. You dont find many 87 year old 2 owner cars especially ones thathaven'tbeen all rehashed or put together with many different parts. There only original once!!. We require a $500 dollar non refundable deposit at close of auction and balance to be paid within 3 days of auctions end. UPDATETO ANSWER A FEW QUESTIONS . WE DID FIND THE ORIGINAL CRANK AND JACK WHICH WILL BE INCLUDED. STILL HUNTING FOR THE SIDE CURTAINS. ALSO I HAD A COUPLE OF GENTLEMEN COME LOOK AT THE CAR AND HEAR IT RUN. NOTICED A RATTLING SOUND WHEN IDLING AT LOW SPEED. I WASN'T SURE WHAT IT WAS SO I CALLED THE OWNER AND FOUND OUT WHEN HE HAD THE MOTOR OVERHAULED HE REPLACED ONE OF THE TIMING GEARS WITH AN ALUMINUM ONE HE WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD LAST A WHOLE LOT LONGER THEN THE FIBER GEARS. WHAT YOU ARE HEARING IS THE BACK LASH FROM THE ALUMINUM GEAR AGAINST THE STEEL GEAR. TO PROVE THIS WE REMOVED THE TIMING PIN AND JUST TOUCHED IT AGAINST THE GEAR AS IT WAS RUNNING AND IT TOTALLY QUIETED . IT HAS BEEN LIKE THAT SINCE THE MOTOR WAS DONE AND NEVER BOTHERED THE OWNER. AND AGAIN YOU ONLY HEAR THIS WHEN IT IS AT VERY LOW IDLE. YOU COULD REMEDY IT BY REPLACING THE GEAR. THE OWNER SAID HE WOULD DRIVE IT TO CALIFORNIA IF HE HAD TO AND IT WOULD BE FINE. I TRY TO BE UPFRONT AND HONEST AS POSSIBLE SO I WANTED TO PUT THIS INFORMATION OUT THERE. THANKS FOR ALL THE INTEREST BOB
