Ford Mustang 1966 Description
I purchased this 1966 Mustang C code car in restorable condition back in April 2007 from Wrightsville Beach N.C.. I imported it into Canada and began the restoration work and evaluation. The car had been sitting outside and the interior and floor were pretty rough ( as with most Mustangs ) the bonus was the rails front and rear along with the shock towers inner and outer rockers torque boxes were all in really good shape ( in my opinion ). The floor extensions and most of the body were also quite reasonable. I stripped the car down and replaced 4 floor pans and made some floor metal repairs. I replaced the trunk floor and installed a new gas tank. I replaced a passenger lower 1/4 and repaired the original doors and fenders ( well the ones which came with the car ). I also re-used the trunk lid and hood. In the front I installed new springs shocks and upper and lower ball joints and much of the steering gear joints and parts. Brakes all around and all new lines and the like ( way too much to mention ) I did the whole interior including new pony interior seat foams in front. Many if not all the dash gauge bezel and knobs etc. were changed for new pieces. Most of the chrome trim sun visors door panels body trim badges and the like all changed new. When I bought the car the engine was already replaced with a 302 ( early one sorry I don't remember which year I think 67 ) I freshened the motor with new timing chain and an aftermarket cam shaft. New dual exhaust installed with the GT valence and rings in rear. I also upgraded to the fog light grill in front New 16 inch tires and wheels ( American Racing )...Now the bad stuff I never replaced the top as I didn't intend to ever use in wet weather I never replaced the cowl and like all of them it leaks ( I will include a cowl cover with car ) the paint turned out horribly from 10 foot and in these pictures it looks ok but it has orange peel in the clear and some runs as well The doors and fenders were never properly set so the gaps are not nice. The rear seat was recovered however the original frame is in rough shape and makes using rear seat very uncomfortable if not totally useless. The car has had limited to no use since completing work in Fall 2007. It has sat and some areas have weathered worse than others. That said it is still a 66 pony interior C code Mustang convertiblewith power top.The rails and floor are all still in excellent condition ( my opinion of excellent ) The interior mostly excellent engine fires right up car drives trans rear seal leak though. Overall a light project which would consist mostly of redoing the paint alignment and some small misc. items and a new top if desired. Aprox. $20000.00 was spent just on parts to get the car to this point not counting labour or the car. I have the original door tag it reads 76B T F3 o7J 22 6 6 this equals conv. Pony Interior Candyapple Red Parchment crinkle vinyl with burgundy appointments Pony Interior Sept. 07 1965 Charlotte 2.80:1 conventional C4 automatic. So a great pedigree as well. Please ask questions come see car everybody's evaluation is different I am hiding nothing and am trying to describe to the best of my abilities. I have included many pictures but pictures tend to look better than in person. Well worth the investment and time to come see this one. Good luck and happy bidding I must downsize the fleet !
