Ford Mustang 1968 Description
I have restored Mustangs as a hobby for 40 years (primarily '68's). Not as a business, but as a hobby. I took this project on as a favor to a friend who, unfortunately had to back out for health reasons. The car is near concourse condition, with many upgrades and personal touches. Starting at the front and working back: new radiator core, original 289 engine overhauled and upgraded to an Edelbrock 4BBL intake manifold & 500CFM electric choke carb, and Pertronix solid state ignition. The wiring harness (from the dash forward) was replaced, as well as the rear harness due to condition. The factory A/C was upgraded with a new rotary compressor, condenser, expansion valve, hoses, and converted to R134 Freon. I had a professional body shop strip the car to bare metal, replacing the left front fender (Ford tooling) & driver's door (rust free) due to condition. The car was then painted Highland Green (BC/CC) and looks superb. The seats were reupholstered and head rests installed (a RARE option). The instrument panels were replaced with the Deluxe Woodgrain panels, and I installed a 8,000 Mini Tach in place of the clock. A new Turn signal switch is also installed. The ammeter (which are notoriously inoperative) was modified to a voltmeter (as in modern cars) and works perfectly. Over the years I had accumulated both the lower & upper consoles which I installed. ALL window & door seals are new, as is the windshield. The inner (rear seat) quarter panels are the padded style as in Deluxe interiors. I also added the metal fire shield behind the rear seat. For added cruising range I installed the 22 gallon (1970)fuel tank. The tail light bulbs are Plasma LED's, and are super bright. Too many new parts to list in this description but I have receipts for everything. I also have the Marti Report verifying authenticity of a California Special.
