Ford Galaxie 1960 Description
Up for sale is my 1960 Ford Galaxie Starliner. This is and always has been a Colorado vehicle. I just recently shipped here to the Midland, MI area. Original miles show 68K and previous owner of 34 years said he would sign affidavit to that affect but I didn't bother to obtain it - I just know it runs well, didn't smoke or use oil.
The car had been in inside storage for 28 years when I bought it. It is very original except for the upholstery being re-done by previous owner.I stored it another five years at my home in Colorado. It has the original 352 cubic inch V8, 2bbl carburetor engine with automatic transmission and power steering. I had a rebuilt carb installed and the brakes gone through. All pieces and parts are there except for passenger window crank handle missing.
It runs well and drives however recently won't draw fuel due to rust in the tank. I do believe the pickup inside the tank is clogged and new owner will need to drop it for cleaning before it is drivable again.I can demonstrate that it runs and drives by means of a funnel source of fuel plumbed directly in the carb. There are no fluid leaks. The car itself has little rust for a vehicle this old but does need trunk floor replaced. Interior carpet and door panels have been removed to show that floors are solid except for one area on passenger side. Pics of interior floor show lots of brown headliner insulation which has fallen down - not necessarily rusty floors as you might assume by the pictures. Headliner is fully deteriorated. The original and unmolested dash does show glue residue from having ‘70s fuzz treatment by PO.Exterior trim is mostly damaged.Front passenger bumper and fender show damage from minor collision.Included is an original replacement fender. It appears that the vehicle was undercoated when purchased new so the undercarriage shows little rust.Paint is original.
However it is too difficult to completely describe here and I suggest you perform inspection for yourself prior to buying or bidding. You could say this was truly a barn find when I found and bought it in the Denver area. I am the third owner with title history showing it has always been in Colorado where they don’t use salt on the roads and a very dry climate. The car needs complete restoration of course if you intend to drive daily. However this is a very, very rare Starliner in original condition. Please do your own research on the Starliner before calling if you are interested. Hagerty dot com website has lots of value information. It only cost me $630 to ship this car 1350 miles just recently.I recommend Professional Auto Transporters out of Miami.
