Ford Falcon 1964 Description
Here's a great project car for the summer, a 1964 Ford Falcon 2 door station wagon (car has a clear South Dakota title). This is a pretty hard to come by vehicle, as I think only 6, 34 were made? It's time for me to sell the car because I'll never get around to it and I now have other priorities. As I stated, this is a project car, it has quite a bit of rust (quarter panels and floorboards) and will take a lot of work. There are a bunch of possibilities for this car, a great factory stock grocery getter, surf wagon, sleeper, custom, street hot rod, or an all-out drag car, just to mention a few. The car looks to be complete, but could be missing some things that I don't see, the car does have the 4 original small dog-dish hub caps, they're in nice shape, just didn't get into the pics. According to my online research, the door plate info decodes as follows: Body 59A (Falcon 2-Dr Station Wagon), Color Y (Skylight Blue), Trim 44 (Beige/Beige), Date 20A (January 20th), DSO 71 (Los Angeles), Axle 5 (3.50:1), Trans 1 (3-Spd Manual). The serial number decodes as: 4 (year, 1964), T (Metuchen, NJ), 21 (Falcon 2-Dr Wagon), U (170 cu. in. 6-Cyl), and then 129155. This has the original 170 cubic inch 6 cylinder engine (it is not running, but did turn over last time I checked, some pieces may be off, coil, other stuff?). I have no idea on the brakes or any of the other mechanical systems, but I'm sure they'll all need work. The body itself is pretty straight, no major dents that I can see, the bumpers are also pretty straight, but the chrome is pitted and flaking, the grille has a couple small dents at top center. This has the 13" 4-bolt rims, the tires on car are fair, spare is bad. The interior has some rough areas (the front seat and headliner are pretty bad), this has the steer-head upholstery on the seats, the rear seat still has original plastic covering. The tail gate glass is bad and will need to be replaced, rest of glass is in good shape (windshield has a chip). Both door glasses, rear passenger side windows, and tailgate glass all roll up and down, but they are stiff and need lubrication. The vent windows work as well, but drivers vent has broken hinge. Everything looks to be all original, nothing looks altered or cut-up that I can see, both doors and tailgate open and close pretty well, I didn't try the locks, the odometer shows 97961 (probably not original miles). The car has been sitting for about 15 years, the license tags expired in January of 1999. This project will take some time, but has the potential of being one great looking vehicle, no matter which way you go with it. Please contact me by email, or call me at 605-377-3145 with any questions, and I'll try to answer them. There is a $400.00 non-refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end.
