Ford Galaxie 1959 Description
For years I wanted a '58 Retractable. When this'59 came available about 3 years ago relatively close to me, I bought it sight unseen. After bringing it home, I concluded it wasn't the right car for me. I don't really like the way it looks and feels, and, probably the greatest reason, it needs more work than what I want to tackle. From a distance it doesn't look too bad. It's mostly complete, both inside and outside. However, it does have some major rust issues that scare me. Its eyebrows are rusted out, as are the bottoms of the front fenders. It has patched panels riveted up under the rear wheel wells and I have found some rustout in the frame. It has been undercoated underneath so I'm not sure how bad the floors are. The driver's door sags at its hinges, and I believe it's from rustout. It has deep surface rust in many places on the car. That said, I think that, in the right hands, it is still a restorable car. However, if anyone is interested in it, it would be great if you or your representative could come check it out before buying it.
I have primed the carb and had it start and run as long as there was gas. I thought it sounded fine. I have no idea how good the transmission is. It appears that at some point in time the brake components were removed from the right front (probably so that it could roll.)
I am listing this AS IS with no warranty. Also, it is a no reserve auction. Please do your homework before bidding --my zipcode is 84511 (Blanding, UT) and it is difficult and pricey to get a transport in here to haul away a non-running roller. Iam willing to help load, and any sized transporter canget in here with no problem.
I would like a $200 deposit through Paypal within 48 hours of auction close and we can determine how the remainder is to be paid. However,I won't let the car gountil it is paid in full. I do have a clearUtah title to it in my name.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call (no texts) me at 435-459-0591 between 3:00 and 10:00 PM MDT.
I also have a complete '59 rust free wagon (last picture) that would have some great useable parts on it, including a front clip and frame (if adaptable and needed.) I would sell it for a reasonable price to the winning bidder. If that appeals to you, call and we can come up with a price contingent upon your buying the retractable.
