Ford 85 FLATHEAD 1939 Description
1939 FORD
Its hard to imagine finding a nicer unrestored 1939 Ford Flathead V8 truck. Until about a week ago, this truck had never seen the big city. The last 77 years have been in the Texas back country.
Originally from Amarillo Texas, the original owners information is still stamped “Property Of” on a brass data plate on the dash, really neat. This truck is like a museum piece.
The truck even sports its Artillery Wheels and original hub caps. The hub caps are pretty rusty due the farm cats marking their territory over the years.
Flip the switch, and push the button and the 85 horse Flathead V8 quickly comes to life and runs smooth. With the dual exhaust the truck sounds good. The interior paint is the original!! Exterior must have been repainted at some point. It looks pretty good. The tires hold air but are as old as dirt.
The truck has strong oil pressure and all the original gauges work with the exception of the fuel gauge. The four speed transmission shifts good and the clutch works as it should.
Of course the windshield cranks out. The truck has a heater. All the glass is good and both door glass rolls up and down with ease. Someone put a sheet of steel over the wood bed. Its just tacked in and easy to remove. The original tailgate is really nice for 77 years.
This truck is going to make someone very happy. Its a real treasure. The only thing that we’re trying to get working is the brakes. I see someone recently replaced one of the rubber lines, but the frontpassengerline is leaking. I'll replace the line and bleed the brakes. Then…we should be good.
If you’ve got questions, I’ve got answers, phone me at 210-548-1310 Hawkeye Wills. The truck is in San Antonio Texas.
