Ford Mustang 1966 Description
Built in San Jose, A, he has spent her entire life in Northern Cal (no rust).Originally Arcadian Blue with a white vinyl top with the Interior Decor Group ("Pony Interior"), 89-2bbl, utomatic, ir conditioning, ower brakes & steering.Traded-in at our Ford dealership in 1975, he sales manager bought it for his son. After he graduated college, he car was parked for many years. I bought it, ompletey disassembled and rebuilt the car. Everything was done to factory specifications, ncluding all of the original factory markings (see photos). The color was changed to metallic blue, he air conditioning and brakes were modernized, nd an IPhone friendly AM/FM radio was installed. Everything else is absolutely factory correct. There was not any nut, olt, r washer that wasn't removed and restored or replaced.
It took my about 5 years to complete the restoration. The paint and major mechanical parts were completed by professionals, hile I did most of the dis-assembly and restoration of everything else. My goal was to build a car that looked like it has rolled off of the assembly line in 1966, ut with a few modern touches that made driving it safer and more enjoyable. The color change was an error made by the bodyshop, ut everybody loves it (even though it is not a factory color). Though it wasn't the original color I wanted, t is beautiful.
Growing up, helped my Dad fix up old cars, nd this is the first car I completely restored. Everything that needed replacing was replaced. Everything that needed repairing or rebuilding was repaired or rebuilt. I spent over $30K restoring this car, nd that does not include the hundreds of hours I spent doing most of the work. It was an education and a labor of love, nd the finished product is very satisfying, specially at car shows or casual drives when people come and look at the car and recall their own Mustang memories.
I have other projects that need my time and attention, o I am selling this Mustang. It has been finished for about four years, nd it has a few minor paint chips to show for it (touched up, hough). I've put less than 2000 miles on it during that time (twice driving to Central California for annual car shows, nd otherwise just short "Sunday" drives.
She is a car that can and should be driven and enjoyed, s well as shown. Her show class is "restored driver." I hope she goes to a home that loves her as much as I have loved her.
The photos include completed and in-progress shots. I have additional pictures and information available, nd I will do my best to respond quickly and accurately to any questions.
