Ford Other 1967 Description
1967 Mercury Comet Drag Car-Cyclone GT look-a-like This sweet Mercury upfor sale in this "No Reserve"auction is the perfect classicmuscle car to bethe spectacle at the local antique car show or for schooling the less fortunate at the local drag strip. It took a great deal of time, oney, nd effort to put this drag car together. This awesome Merc was purchased from an elderly lady who was originally from Oregon, o it has a really nice undercarriage. This car never saw salt like we have here in the Midwest. I have owned this car for nearly 12 years and has always been garage kept and has only been out on nice spring and summer days. I have spent almost $50,000 into making it into the incredible machine it is today. Everything on this car has been completely gone through. No expense was spared!! The engine is a 408 Stroker with an all eagle 4340 balanced rotating assembly. It has H beam 4340 rods and SRP forged pistons. I run this baby on 93 octane, ut I usually add half 115 octane racing fuel. This Bad Boy stroker has 11.1 compression with H series bearings and file fitted rings set up perfect for Nitrous. It has a 673 solid lift roller competition cam shaft with competition roller rockers and .080 wall push rods. There are Cometic MLS head gaskets under a very expensive pair of AFR aluminum heads with 2.02 valves that have been port and polished with a competition 5 angle valve job. There is a ported aluminum intake manifold to match the racing heads with a 930 Holley HP double pumper carburetor. There is a Holley electric fuel pump set up for the Nitrous. This wicked engine is cooled down by an aluminum radiator with dual cooling fans. There is an adjustable NOS plate system with a purge kit. Additionally, here are all high performance ignition parts including an MSD distributor, SD coil, SD 6AL Multiple Spark Discharge high output voltage regulator, SD timing 2 stage retard box. The transmission was professionally built with a manual valve body and trans brake with a 3500 TCI anti-ballooning stall converter. All the suspension is new in the front end including disc brakes. There are Calvert 90/10 racing shocks with Moroso front drag springs. This Stroker is connected to ceramic coated super competition Hooker headers with electronic cut-outs and 3" inch pipes running back to the dual Flowmaster high performance exhaust system. With a flip of the switch on the dash this car goes from a Bad Boy Muscle Car to a Super Bad Boy Muscle Car. What a cool machine is all I have to say! I can't see any muscle car guy not absolutely loving this car!! The rear-end is a Ford 9" inch posi-traction with 28 spline axles and a new Strange spool. The rear-end has new 430 Richmond ring and pinion bearings and is attached to a heavy duty drive shaft with heavy duty U-joints. The tachometer and gauges are made by Auto Meter. This transmission is shifted with a TCI Pistol Grip Bandit shifter. It has Hurst Line Lock to smoke the tires before this baby flies down the strip. It even has a cool squirter hooked up from the fluid container inside the trunk that squirts water onto the pavement to help the tires spin and smokem with ease. There is a 4 point roll bar for safety purposes. This Rare Drag Car body is completely original with only one re-paint. There was no rust anywhere on this body when I purchased this car and I was told the mileage is absolutely original. This super clean original paint old lady car was meticulously prepped for paint. The body is virtually laser straight and shines endlessly as evident from the reflections shown in the pictures with this Candy Apple Red paint work and Cyclone GT white stripes. Compliments will be coming from everyone who sees it. It was hard to just keep people away while I was shooting the pictures for this auction. I scrutinized the whole car, nd it appears to have all the original body panels with no signs of any accidents or body repair. It was evident to me that this is one solid original car from everything I saw when I first made this purchase. The hood is a Cyclone GT fiberglass hood, o that is the only panel that is not original to this car. The doors still open and close like when this car was like new. All the windows roll up and down properly, nd the front doors have the cool vent old school windows. The front and rear seats were both professionally reupholstered and are very comfortable. The inside door panels were also both redone. This beauty starts right up, nd drives down the road straight as an arrow. The title is clean and clear from the State of Illinois in my name. The condition of the body speaks for itself. These tiresare the perfect size to makethis Drag Car sit up just right, nd hold the road tight. They are mounted on Super Sweet Weld aluminum racing wheels. I have an extra pair of rear wheels with nice street legal tires that will be included in this auction. The chrome is all original to the best of my knowledge, nd I would consider the chrome to begood drivers quality condition. These older classics that have survived for almost 50 years are becoming harder and harder to find. I believe everywhere this car is driven itwill be the pride of the neighborhood. I feel confident when I say that whateverthis classic Drag Car sells for in this "No Reserve" auctionwill bea Win/Win investment. This car can be easily driven on the street or at the drag strip. The rear tires would simply need to be changed to the supplied pair that are included with this sale to be 100% street legal. This Mercury is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as the Classic Car market has shown toconsistently escalate in value. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a nominal price. I try to list everything I can think of when I write a description, o every potential bidder can make the most informed decision prior to placing their bid.If you feel I may have left anything out please ask as many questions as you like.
