Ford Model A 1929 Description
I am selling my 1929 Ford Model “A” Sport Coupe (series 50A) due to my age and health. At 78 years old and unable to walk without the aid of walker or motorized scooter (see attached photo) but, till young at heart it just to hard for me to drive and work on this car anymore. Without power steering and brakes I am no longer a safe driver in this beautiful little model “A”. It is my hope that some younger person that loves to tinker on cars will purchase and enjoy this special Model “A”. In 2005 this 1929 Ford Model “A” Sport Coupe was restored. This was a body off restoration. At the time of restoration the following was also done: new steel fenders, unning boards, omplete body painting, ew interior, ood flooring, hocks, he fuel tank was cleaned and repaired a new cloth top was installed and all chrome was refinished or replaced with new along with the engine being rebuilt. In 2013 the wheels were powder coated the correct color, eceived five new tires, nter tubes and rim liners, ew brake shoes, ew Sparton horn and an alternator to replace the 6vdc generator. New plugs and points were installed along with a new 6vdc battery. Running boards step plates were also installed at this time. In 2014 a rebuilt starter motor, odern bendix gear, ew starter switch, new not a rebuilt” Zenith carburetor was installed, ll new fuel lines along with a new modern fuel shut-off-value, ew fuel tank gauge, ew leakless water pump and a rebuilt speed-o-meter along with a new speed-o-meter cable and drive assembly were installed. It is also noted that all light bulbs including new halogen headlight bulbs were replaced. New “modern” distributor, istributor cap, otor cap, ires, nd an ignition coil were installed. New laminated fiber timing gear was installed. Valve cover and oil return gaskets were installed along a new valve cover. New one-piece manifold gasket, ew muffler, ntake and exhaust manifolds were installed. New brake rod anti-rattler kit and brake and clutch pedal shaft set were installed. The oil was changed, ll joints were greased including the throw-out bearing, ransmission and rear-end oil was changed (600W oil), he radiator was flushed and coolant was replaced and a new 2 blade cast aluminum fan blade and fan belt were installed. Coolant hoses and clips were replaced. Headlights were also adjusted and yes the model A was cleaned and waxed. In 2015 a New Snyder Antique Auto Parts counterbalanced rebuilt touring motor part # A-6005-LHB was installed along with a lightened flywheel with-V-8 clutch and throw out bearing. The three hour engine break-in was completed and records made part of the Model “A” files. New float-A-motor kits (both front and rear) were installed. The radiator was flushed, leaned, low checked and new antifreeze was installed. New front axle and a spindle kit along with new front wheel bearings and a shorten pitman arm were installed. The steering shaft with a new worm gear, econditioned steering arm (double ball), econditioned steering arm (single balls) and a 2-tooth steering sector were installed and the two teeth steering box was completely cleaned and rebuilt (along with all new internal parts). The spark and gas control rods were rebuilt. Brakes were adjusted. New battery and a new 30-30 amp-meter were installed. The oil was changed and all grease joints were serviced. The transmission and rear end were drained and 600W was changed. Spark plugs were cleaned and set to .033. Many felt and rubber pads were replaced to reduce body noise. She was cleaned and waxed and made to look like near new again. Ready for the summer fun! Cruises nice at 45-50 MPH and is a lot of fun to drive. All door locks have working keys. There is about 410 miles on the new touring engine. Just a note if there is a better 1929 Ford Model “A” Sport Coupe around I do not know were it’s at (just review the photos). This car is better then when Henry Ford built it. This car has had 10s of thousand of dollars spent on its restoration over the last ten (10) years of it life and about $9,000.00 of that was this year along. Yes, here will still be work to be completed (every year fixing little things). Yes, t’s a Model “A” and it will need your attention on a regular basis (this is part of the fun of ownership of a Model “A”). Next year I was planning to install modern shocks to improve the ride and to replace the transmission gasket that is leaking a little oil. There is a box of spare parts including a two complete set of spark plugs, il pan gaskets, crews and rubber grommets, 00W oil and a 1929 Ford Model “A” service manual by Les Andrews several parts manuals along with a Ford owner’s manual. Two sets of keys are also included. The old functional bat-wing distributor cap and wiring is also in the part box (I keep this for car shows). Please also be advised that this car is advertised locally and with my model A club. Please note that Alabama does not issue a title for vintage autos so this sale will be a bill of sale transfer. Buyer assumes all taxes, license fees, hipping costs and all other cost of this vehicle upon purchase. This vehicle is "As Is" No warranty. Thank you for your time and please do stop by and inspect and test drive this very special 86 year old Model “A”.
