Ford Galaxie 1965 Description
With House of Colors bright green paint and a top that goes down, his 1965 Ford Galaxie is begging for attention. Coupled with a built 390, freshly updated interior, nd a clean undercarriage results in a great drop-top cruiser that's very affordably priced.Quite honestly, ou're not going to get this much power, erformance, nd charisma in a drop-top for less money anywhere else. For reasons we can't quite explain, he big Galaxies aren't getting the same love that, ay, Chevy Chevelle might get, nd that's a shame. Check out the stacked headlights, he long, traight flanks with minimal trim, nd Ford's awesome rocket-inspired taillights, ll of which make this one of the most appealing big cars of the '60s. Under the louad-and-proud paint, he bodywork is in good shape, nd although not perfect, he car looks flashy and has a lot of presence. If you want to get noticed, his Galaxie is a great way to do it. You're in luck because they didn't shave, rim, r modify any of the important parts, o it's still easy to identify as Ford's top-of-the-line and the chrome and stainless is in good shape overall. The tan cloth interior is recent, ncluding fresh seat covers and carpets that are a softer contrast to the bright paint job. Cloth is a great choice in a convertible, ince it's a lot more comfortable on hot days and doesn't feel sticky. The patterns pretty accurately replicate what was on the car originally and two bench seats mean there's plenty of room for everyone. The factory dash looks quite good for being nearly 50 years old and the basics of the original instrument panel are joined by a trio of auxiliary gauges underneath and a tach on the steering column. That's a factory steering wheel, ow wrapped in tan leather to give you a better grip and the original AM radio is still in the dash so it all has a very correct look. There's a recent tan power convertible top overhead, ncluding a crystal clear rear window and matching boot, o this car is ready to cruise. And as a full-sized luxury car, here's a positively massive trunk with a recent mat out back.Originally born with a 352, his car now sports a thundering 390 cubic inch V8 which was rebuilt and installed less than two years ago. It's an easy fit in the Galaxie's engine bay and aside from some chrome dress-up, t looks like it was born there. There's a Holley 4-barrel carburetor up top as well as an electronic ignition, o it runs strong and smooth under almost any conditions. The 3-speed automatic transmission was rebuilt at the same time and clicks through the gears without hesitation and on a big car like this, ower steering and brakes are a welcome addition to the options sheet. Twin glasspack-style mufflers give it a throaty '60s sound and the underside shows what years of living in a warm climate will get you, ecause it's pretty darned clean. Chrome Cragar mags are a period look and carry recent 15-inch white-letter radials. If you're a Ford fan, r just a guy on a budget who wants the maximum amount of cool, his Galaxie delivers in full-sized fashion.
