Ford 4 Door Phaeton 1937 Description
1937 Ford Other Additional Info:Here is the one of the most sinister vehicles on the planet. This 1937 Ford Phaeton was built by Dayton Wire Wheels of Dayton Ohio for the 2007 SEMA show in Las Vegas. The car was found in a local barn a few miles from the Dayton wheels world headquarters. Below is the story of the build or you can go to the Dayton Wheel page adto see all the pictures of the build and all the unbelievable details.
Posies Driven Dirty Tour was a challenge thrown down by “Dutch” at the 2005 SEMA show: How about we get a handful of manufacturers to build cars and drive them from Cincinnati to next year’s SEMA show in Las Vegas? A handful of enthusiastic supporters signed up, including Dayton Wire Wheel. The theme of the Driven Dirty Tour (DDT) was to build a vehicle utilizing industry components to prove their reliability on a cross country tour. Dayton Wire Wheel was signed up, but had no vehicle prepared for the trip. Upon returning to Dayton Ohio, the search began for a suitable build project.
The car was located in a shed less than two miles from the Dayton Wire Wheel World Headquarters. The vehicle was originally delivered in Cincinnati Ohio and included the rare dealer installed second windshield. Some time in the 1950’s the car’s body was sectioned approximate 4 inches in an effort to create a custom rod, but alas the project was never finished.
Now Dayton Wire wheel has re-built it for the drive to Las Vegas. This amazing car was then driven over 4000 miles up and back to the 2007 SEMA show.
As you will read in the Dayton Wheels build, the frame was modified, a rebuilt Flathead with nice vintage speed equipment was sourced and a new 5 speed trans was added. The floors were repaired and a trunk lid was custom made. All new braking system was added with disc up front and drums in the rear. New detail includes rebuilt carbs, adjustments and tuning whereby this car is ready to make the trip back to Vegas
This Car was built with no attention to detail spared, and built to be driven. Receipts are available for the entire build.
