Ford Fairlane 1955 Description

Only 1950s cars can wear pastels properly, and as this 1955 Ford Fairlane Victoria proves, you need the right curves to really pull it off. Classically dressed, this nicely detailed and well-finished Vicky captures the perfect 1950s vibe of sock hops, drive-ins, and doo-wop music on the radio, all in a very appealing package.I know two-tone blue isn't for everyone, but if you grew up back in the '50s, then cars like this hold a very special appeal. Code XD Regatta Blue and Waterfall Blue are this car's original combination, so the two-tone combination is entirely appropriate on the flashy Ford and definitely looks like it belongs there. Of course, with this much attention-grabbing charisma, they made sure to get the bodywork nice and straight before applying the pastel hues and despite a few years of hitting the local cruise nights, it still looks great. It shows age, but it could almost pass for nice original paint, so it's got that going for it. They used factory break lines on the body to make it authentic and that sweeping stainless side spear provides the perfect place to separate the colors. All the stainless and chrome is in good order and fights the bright paint for your attention; there are a few dings here and there, but nothing worth noting. Gorgeous bumpers with oversized guards, the jet-inspired taillights, and classic concave grille give it a wonderful look that's impossible to ignore. The interior matches the bodywork, but it's a lot more subdued so it's easy to live with. The patterns on the bench seats look authentic and it matches the door tag that says it's code AY Medium Blue and Light Blue vinyl. It's possible that it's original and it's showing some age, with the only notable upgrade being a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo in its own little box under the dash. The rest, however, is completely stock, including the rounded speedometer with Plexiglas window in the back and the three round pods in the center that handle heat, entertainment, and time. The big steering wheel has a few cracks but remains a fantastic way to handle your Vicky and if you've ever driven a T-Bird, it'll look very familiar indeed. Everything is in decent shape, showing minor signs of use and age, and like the exterior, if you like the colors, you're going to love hanging out in here. The trunk is neatly finished with a correct mat as well as a matching wide whitewall radial, just in case. The 272 cubic inch Y-block V8 engine is correct for 1955 and provides decent performance and a bubbly attitude. It's correctly dressed in Ford Red engine enamel and wears simple stamped steel Ford valve covers. Again, it's somewhere between nicely preserved original and older restoration, although the shiny radiator is newer, the carb has been recently rebuilt and the fuel pump looks recent. The oil bath air cleaner, the 6-volt electrical system, and the familiar Y-block cast iron exhaust manifolds all reinforce the old-school vibe. The underside is also nicely preserved, with the light blue floors making a great background for the satin black frame and suspension components. A car like this will, of course, include an automatic transmission and the original rear end hangs on a set of recent shocks. Glasspack-style mufflers offer a punchy '50s sound that's nice and mellow, and the original hubcaps are framed by 205/75/15 wide whitewall radials.Classic colors and fun driving manners make this car a winner, so if you like the '50s and want to get some attention, this is an affordable way to do it.
