Ford Model T 1923 Description
I am selling our 1923 Ford Model T Touring car. Let me start off by saying that I don't really want to sell it, but we need the space back in our garage, and it is time for it to go to a home where someone can enjoy it as much as we have. It has been an excellent car. We were the first family to purchase it outside of its original owners family. I am the third owner of the car and know a lotof its history. It has been lovinglymaintained throughoutthe years and as a result brought many smiles and much enjoyment. Since my wife and I have owned it, we have driven it aroundtown for Icecream, went on 30-45 mile cruises, and even done little things like run to a Red Box in it. It is a lot of fun and makes you feel like a celebrity. People wave, and smile and take pictures or record you driving by.
Mechanically the car is excellent. All of our cruising has been trouble free, and the car starts right up like it should and just purrs like a kitten. I pulled it out and gave it an oil change this year when the weather got nice, packed all the wheel bearings full of grease and greased every grease zerk. In the last five years, the car has gotten the following:
- Gas tank removed and cleaned as well as all the lines cleaned.-Carburetor rebuilt-New coils purchased and installed-New Plugs & wires-New Axle seals-New Grease in the rear axle-New rear parking brakes and brake rods-Rebuilt starter button-New Kevlar Transmission bands installed and adjusted-New Steering Rod end caps-New High gear & handbrake detent and spring-New Battery
-Receipts totaled $2,555.00 and all replacement parts came from Bird Haven Model T or NAPAI will pass this paperwork along to the new owner, as well as the history I know of the car. As a result, this model T is a driver, not a trailer queen, and it has given my family a lot of reliable and trouble free enjoyment.
The physical aspects of the car are also pretty good. For a car that is 94 years old, I think it looks pretty darn good. It does have a few dents and dings, rock chips, scratches, etc. I have tried to show pictures of the car from every angle to address these. There are some issues that were next on my list to fix. They are the hole in the top on the back passenger side, it is on the cloth, and about the size of a tennis ball. This is mouse damage that occurred prior to us owning the vehicle. The car is a fair weather car, and we never planned on taking it in the rain and it was not a priority. The other issue is the front top bow. It has a crack in it, and when putting the top down, it requires two people to lift it back. When the top is up, it gets strength from the windshield frame it is attached to and is fine. My wife and I have not put the top down but just a few times, the black leather and black car get WAY too hot. so we leave it up as a sunshade almost. It could be put together with a splint almost for a temporary fix, but new top bows are not terribly expensive. All lights (headlights and taillight) on the car work, but the horn does not. It also has Nitrogen filled tubes in the tires. The title is clean and clear and in my name.
Well, that is everything about the car. The car is sold as is where is. I am more than happy to show the new owner how to drive the car. We have taught numerous friends and family in the time we have owned it.A deposit is due within 48 hours, contact from the new buyer is also expected at that time to arrange for pick up and make the final payment arrangements. I can store the car for up to 14 days after the auction ends. I would prefer cash in person for payment and am willing to work with any buyer on whether they are picking up in person or if they wish to have it shipped. If being shipped, that is on the new owner, but I will help logistically if I can. There is no warranty expressed or implied on the car... it is 94 years old after all.
Thank you for looking and happy bidding!
