Ford F-100 1955 Description
You are bidding on a 1955 Ford F-100 pickup truck. This truck was originally bought in central Alabama by the father of the man I bought it from last year. He states that he doesn’t think this truck has ever been out of the county where it was purchased. It was apparently used more for transportation than for hauling, according to the son, and judging from the lack of any dents or dings inside the pickup bed, I would tend to believe him.
This truck has only 42,450 original miles on it. I don’t believe the engine has ever been out it.
Rustout is essentially a non-issue with this truck. The only rust holes I could find anywhere were some pinholes shown in one of the pictures of the left lower tail gate. Even the battery box below the cover on the floor in front of the passenger’s seat is rust-free. There is obviously surface rust here and there on the truck in several areas, as you can see in the pictures, but this is shallow and doesn't go through the metal. The floors, fender wells, cab corners, and other usually rusty spots are all in very good condition.
It doesn’t appear that the truck has ever had an collision damage, nor are there very many dings or small dents anywhere on the truck.
Although the truck has not been licensed since the mid-90s, we did start it up when we bought it last year, using an external fuel source, and there were no strange noises nor anything unusual about the way it ran at that time.
The truck originally came with 16 inch wheels, 4 of which are in the pickup bed and the fifth one is mounted on the spare tire rack. The wheels that are currently on it are 15 inch ones that the son put on about 25 years ago when it became hard to find 16” tires.
This truck would be excellent to restore, rather than hot-rodding, because it is so original and so complete.
I expect payment within 5 days of the end of the auction. The car can be picked up after your check has cleared my bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I will help load the car on your transporter’s truck.
NOTE: Buyer will be given a Bill of Sale only. There is NO TITLE for this car as Georgia is a non-Title state for cars this old. (Disregard eBay’s “Clear Title” box above.)
