Ford Mustang 1965 Description
Beautiful, RARE and REAL 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback GT A Code (289 4V). This is the one that most desire and is very hard to find! This real GT Mustang was originally painted Wimbeldon White with red interior from the factory however was repainted black in the mid to late 70's. The black and red contrast is very eye appealing. The paint is in very good condition for its age and still shows and presents itself well. It does have the normal chips and or touch up in various places however this is expected considering the age. The body is straight and the car retains all its original sheet metal with the exception being that the lower quarter panel drop offs (behind the rear wheels) have been replaced on both sides right prior to the repaint. The car is remarkably solid throughout. There is one spot on the drivers side floor pan where a little rust through has started (see picture) otherwise the car appears to be very solid. We personally know the 2nd owner of the car who purchased the car in the early 70's. He has confirmed the car is a real GT and we have also done athoroughinspection of the car to insure it has all the GT attributes, of which it does.During the course of the inspection we have confirmed the following GT attributes:
- Car has a 13/16" front sway bar
- Quick ratio manual steering box (Code: HCC-AX)
- Instrument panel with gauges (140 MPH)
- Relay with constant power mounted on a tab near the support brace for the brake pedal
- Rally pac
- Fog light switch that when activated the rear taillights come on
- Front Disc Brakes
- Rear brake hose mounted in a higher location in the arch of the axle housing toaccommodatedual exhaust
- Larger master cylinder for the Disc Brakes
- Dual exhaust trumpets exiting through the rear valance
- Two bolt holes punched through the rear end of the frame rails for the exhaust hanger brackets that support the trumpets on each side of the car
- "U" shaped reinforcement piece inside the frame rail where the holes for the rear exhaust hangers are
- "GT" emblems mounted on each of the front fenders
- Individual "Mustang" pin letters are located in a stripe that runs along the lower rocker panel
- Fog lights
- Holes in the radiator support for the fog lights are punched through the support, not drilled
