Dodge Rumble Seat Coupe 1933 Description
This is a 1933 Dodge Rumble Seat Coupe. This car is selling No-Reserve, to top bid. I am listing this neat, old, stock, all metal 1933 Dodge DP Coupe for a retired friend. This car is rust-free, having been sold new in California, and spending the first 50 years of its life in the western US. This is a late production DP with the desirable long 115in. wheelbase. Car is equipped with its original 201 cu.in. flathead six(with matching motor number), 3-speed manual transmission, and factory hydraulic brakes. This is an original rumble seat(or 4-passenger) coupe model, one of 8,869 produced at the Detroit assembly plant in 1933. This car features an older cosmetic restoration from 30 years ago, and while no show car, still has nice general appearance. Grille looks to be an outstanding original, with only a couple small rust spots in chrome around radiator cap. The original ram mascot is an un-broken, very nice. Headlights, factory trumpet horns, and taillights all appear to be nice original. Front bumper is solid and straight, but has some spots of surface rust(see pics). Rear bumper is clean and shiney, but is slightly bent in on RH side. Car is finished in factory La Playa Biege, with Marathon Red wheels and pin stripe. Biege paint, though 30 years old, is still shiney and very presentable. While solid as a rock, prep and body work on this car appears to have been minimal, so if examined closely, sheet metal has its fair share of waves and old small dings and blems. Top hood panels are particularly wavey, and outer edges of fenders all appear to have had some work. Running boards are solid and straight originals, but have been re-covered. Interior is stock broadcloth. Front seat has several worn spots, and several moth holes are present in headliner(see pic), but interior should still be serviceable as-is. Dash is stock and un-modified, and very nice(see pics). Instruments are nice and all operate properly. Dash lights work, and even dome light operates. Inside of rumble seat area is nice. Original engine was stated to have been rebuilt 30 years ago, and starts and runs very good. In the time I have had possession of this car, it has proved to be quite reliable, capable of sitting 30 days( or more), and still starting first crank. Trans shifts good(for a '33) and brakes operate smoothly. Overall, this is a very nice driving old car, although it is more comfortable at 50mph or less speeds, due to low factory rear end gear. The 6-volt battery is new. Exhaust is like new. Car has a matched set of five original 16x4.00 wood spoke wheels. Tires are useable, but are 30 years old, and are dried out with cracks and checking. Hub caps are original and shiney, but have blems. Appearance of engine and underside of car are basically clean, with older detailing showing its age(see pics) but should easily freshen up. Mileage shown on odometer is 07124, but is not documented. Overall, if you are the kind of person who believes in using your vintage car, the slightly less-than-show condition of this car should be just right for driving and enjoying, ( and not worrying if someone leans on it). Obviously, car would also easily improve or restore for show, if desired. Car comes with an original owners manual. Also present is a copy of the original factory build sheet(see pic) showing that this coupe was special ordered and built on March 27, 1933, and then shipped to San Francisco, CA on March 28, '33. Build sheet confirms that this is a factory rumble seat coupe, and also documents the serial number(car no.) to the motor no. Original serial number plate(3596219) is intact on RH door post, and motor number (DP 19809) is clearly stamped on boss on LH side of engine. Car currently has a clear Indiana title in seller's name. A $500.00 PayPal deposit is required with in 24 hours. Balance is to be paid in 7 days(all funds must clear before car is to be picked up). Car should be picked up with in 30 days, unless other arrangements are made. Car is available for inspection here in Indianapolis, IN almost anytime over the next week. Please email, or call 317-361-8522(Karl) for appointment to view or for additional info. As stated, this car is selling no-reserve, so, if you bid, please be prepared to complete transaction. If you are an enthusiast of early 1930's automobiles, I would think this is the kind of car you watch ebay for, so, please give this neat old coupe your serious consideration. Your bid buys clean and solid 1933 Dodge Rumble Seat Coupe with documented matching numbers as shown.
