Dodge Other 1938 Description
Too many old MoPars so I have decided to sell my '38 Dodge business coupe. It's a strong runner with a completely rebuilt braking system and a rebuilt '52 Dodge D42 230 c.i. engine. The 38 engine was rated at 87hp. and this 52 engine is rated at 103hp. I have the receipt for the engine rebuild done in 1999. The car was rewired by the previous owner but I have never bothered to see why the headlights and gas gauge do not work. I only drive it during the day and the brake lights do work. The headlights were converted to sealed beam but I installed the original bulbous lenses over sealed beams cause I like the look of the original lenses. The car does not have wiper arms or blades. I installed bias ply wide white walls shortly after I purchased the car in Jan. 07. I also installed a good used transmission because the original had a broken 1st gear tooth.
The body is rust free except a few bubbles on the lower tail piece. This car was originally a medium blue. It was then repainted yellow sometime in it's life and finally the tan you see now. The car was owned for many years by someone in Colfax, Ca. It then went to Santa Rosa for a short period of time before I bought it.
The upholstery needs to be redone and the headliner is missing. I also have a better dash board than what is in it now. The front and rear bumpers have been re-chromed and are in nice condition. I also installed a new rubber floor mat. You could probably drive this car home as long it was during the day and it was not raining.
The gauge photo was taken after 20 minutes of idling in the driveway and at operating temp. Note the 42lbs of oil pressure !
Oh...since you're here you might as well check out my old MoPar parts for sale too.
