Dodge Other 1947 Description
This is a really solid original Dodge two door sedan D24 with fluid drive coupling and a column shift manual. Make no mistake this is a project but it is all there and untouched. The car has not been on the road since 1983 but has been in a concrete floored metal garage/barn. In fact the first photo is where the car was stored for over 30 years and the gentleman who had owned the car for the last forty years. As a result of the 30 years of storage the original numbers matching engine is stuck however a "free" engine comes with it. Both engines are flathead sixes 230 C.I. from my internet research. The only significant rust on the entire car that I have found is on both front floor boards right below each heater outlet and the bottom of the spare tire well in the trunk. These areas are rusted through and will need patched. The rockers bottom of the doors etc appear to be rust free and very solid--at least everywhere I have seen. The body mounts all look good from what I have seen and the frame is exceptionally nice. From the research I have done the original color appears to have been "Patriot Blue" and is present on the firewall along with the original cowl tags.I bought this thinking it would be a fun original project to get on the road again without too much effort. But the reality for me is I am far too busy with work right now and I have a couple of other cars that I should be working on instead of this. Here is what I have done so far. I have pulled the fuel tank and drained the rotten gas and blown out the line. The tank can either be sloshed or replaced it is up to you. It will need one new tank strap as one twisted a bit as I was removing it and broke. The car rolls but it needs more than one people power to move it as the brakes are dragging from sitting for over 30 years. The old bias plys hold air for at least a week but will eventually go down. I installed a new 6 volt battery which will go with the car. I removed some of the seat covers that were on it when I got it and found that the original interior (so far) is in remarkable shape. I started to remove the engine and this is where I decided this was more of a project than I want to start at this point. I cut the exhaust off during this so there will be no exhaust beyond the manifolds. I have removed one of the headlights as well to order new ones (which I have not done yet) as they were both burnt out. I do have all four original hubcaps but two of the wheels do not have the clips. This is a very highly optioned car including factory radio dual heaters a fulton visor all weather cowl vent really cool map light by the key fluid drive driving lights and a bunch of other cool stuff. It also comes with the original manuals and a shop manual I just bought for it. The car has a very reasonable reserve but will not be disclosed in fairness to all interested. This is a great "survivor" ready to be saved. NO EMAILS please! Instead please give me a call at 319 three six zero 0911 and I will be delighted to answer any questions you may have. I have only owned this car for a few weeks and it is currently garaged as it has been for at least the last fifty years according to the previous owner.I have a clean title from the 1970s. Although I bought this to be my personal vehicle I do own a dealership and it is titled in my dealership name.
