Dodge Challenger 1971 Description
Please see photos at http://www.claylahatte.com/auto/1971_Challenger_Convertible_383_Green_Go/A $1000 non refundable deposit is required upon purchase, or the car can be relisted.
A very rare 1971 Challenger convertible with the big block 383, automatic, all numbers match, with air conditioning, power windows, power top. Color is Green Go with white convertible top, and white vinyl interior. Includes the fender tag and a build sheet.
Structural condition is good, except needing floor pans, and rust in lower quarter panels. Frame and structure are very good.
The engine ran when last parked, but it has been sitting a long time. As I understand it the engine had been rebuilt shortly before I got the car in the 80's. The transmission currently in the car is not original, but from a 1970 cuda. I have the original transmission. I replaced it long ago because of slippage, which may have been just the torque converter. This transmission can stay with the car for an additional $250 (I also have the matching 70 cuda 383 engine that goes with this transmission).
The seats in it now are front only, and are from a 72 or later challenger, and are deteriorated black. I do have a convertible seat back for it, even thought there isn't one shown in the car. Also, some original Burnt Orange rear interior panels, a bit chalky, that I acquired many years ago.
I have some new parts, including new OER rear wiring harness, NOS front valance panel, Legendary front and rear seat covers, and an interior door and rear panel set from Year One (before the Metro stuff). Also a nice used set of front turn signal lenses.
The wheels that came on the car are the road wheels (see picture). The rally wheels currently on the rear do not go with the car.
I REALLY hate to let this go, but I don't suppose I will ever get to it. It will be gorgeous when restored (see example photos included here).
