Dodge Charger 1966 Description
For sale is a 1966 Dodge Charger for a restoration project. Located in New Mexico. I need to sell because I am moving and I cannot take it with me.
It is in very good condition for a restoration project. The engine is a 440 cid with a 727 automatic transmission. Odometer says 17727 miles which means it is probably 117727 miles. The car was in running condition before I removed the engine and transmission. The original engine was a 361 big block as the VIN shows. I am the third owner of the car. The second owner bought the car without the engine and transmission. He put in a 440 engine with a transmission that was out of a 1975 Chrysler Imperial. Car will have to be traileredbecause the engine is out of the car.
There is some rust but minimal and not bad, plus some dents too. The passenger side has some dents primarily on the door but the car comes with an extra door. As the pictures show the passenger side has the most dents, a competent bodyman can repair them. I have all the chrome pieces. All the glass is intact with the windshield being the only one with a crack. The crack is on the driver's side but doesn't restrict the view.
The upholstery should be replaced, the two rear seats are in the best shape. The driver's seat upholstery is in the worst shape. I have most of the interior removed except for the dash. The dashpad is cracked. All the gauges except the tach were working before I removed the engine. The dash lights worked too. The hidden headlight operation worked too. I have the original tail lights but the lenses have little cracks throughout. Bumpers are in good shape too.
There is a slight tear in the floorboard under the driver's seat. Either the 1st or 2nd owner hit something once. I didn't notice it when I purchased the car. It can be easily repaired with a welder because the floor boards are in great shape. This car will be a great restoration project because it is in such good shape for a car from 1966.
There are other extras that can gowith the car too.
