Dodge Viper 1992 Description
This is one of the original 92 Vipers sold as a 93 after the first batch were shipped and the rest were put on hold until 93. Because Ebay reads the VIN as a 92 it shows as a 92 but was sold as a 93. Roy Sjoberg confirmed to me at the first Viper convention that this was originally one of the held back 92's with the original motor that he blueprinted and designed. He told me that after the first 200 cars were built he was forced to modify the original motor as many so-called Vette owners had purchased the first few 92 Vipers and complained to Dodge marketing that the engines ran hard and were too noisey. He said he designed the motor to be a real street legal racing motor and for later models, after the first two hundred, the motor had a little less zip and made much less noise. I have another 93 Viper, after the first 200 in a rare dark Emerald Green color, that runs as Roy suggested, smoother and quieter with a little less raw power. If you are interested in buying the pair, send me a message. AS for the Emerald Green, the paint guy at Dodge looked at mine and told me only 3 were sprayed with the darker Emerald Green I have, and the rest of the 93 Emerald Green Vipers were sprayed with a modified lighter color Emerald Green per instructions from Dodge marketing who felt the first 3 Green Vipers were too dark. I parked next to the lighter sprayed Vipers and felt lucky to have bought the darker green! Learned a lot about these cars from the Viper Conventions where us Viper owners mingled with the creators of the Vipers and the marketing guys for 3 days. Happy to share stories with the purchasers. I once did a Viper wander around the streets of LA with a member of GnR, who also loved Vipers and had one of the first ones in LA on the road...
