Dodge Other Pickups 1955 Description
1955 Dodge Hemi Job rated H truck
Looking around on old farms is one of my favorite things to do, and this truck is exactly why. It's doesn't getmuch moreexciting than finding an original genuine HEMI truck!
First of all, I am listing this truck at No Reserve, so it will sell to the highest bidder. This truck is located in Great Bend, KS and was purchased from an old farmer in western Kansas. This truck was used on his farm for many years for harvest. This truck has a clear, open Kansas title.
As I said, my first reaction was wow, a hemi, but upon closer inspection, I was equally amazed at how straight this truck is . It only has one dent that I have found, its in the right rear cab corner. He knew exactly how it happened, - neighbor borrowed it and backed into a stump. It also has a couple spots bubbling on the bottom of driver door. I put both of these in the pictures. I've had a lot of old farm trucks, and this is probably the straightest one (un-restored) that I have ever had that is this age. But please keep in mind that this is a 60 year old farm truck, so it is not perfect. The doors shut well, the windows roll up and down well, the lights work, but you have to mess with the dimmer switch sometimes to get them to come on, so it's going to need replaced. All the gauges work. All of the glass is in the truck, but windshield is cracked and side windows have some delamination. Dump bed works great, but does need a new cable. Its real stiff, and you have to get under the truck and help engage the pump.
As for the heart of this beast - it runs like a top. It fires right up, carries great oil pressure, and sounds like a hemi should sound. It does smoke some, and it also smells like old gas,and smells a little rich. I'm sure it could use a good general service and tune-up. Transmission shifts fineand the power brakes work well, although they may need to be bled. As for the size of the engine - and this is why I included pictures of the casting numbers - I believe it's probably a 241. I was told the 331 or 270 was also an option? anyway - you have the numbers, probably a 241, but you decide. The tires on this do hold air and are fine for putting around, but they are old and weathered. I currently have a semi-truck battery in this, and is too big for the cover to fit over. I need the battery to put back in the semi - but we can use it for loading. I have no problems working with someone on storage, as long as truck is paid for in a timely manner. Please notice that I have 100% positive feedback, so bid with confidence. And above all else, I want you to know exactly what you're bidding on, so please call or text Cort at 620-786-5172 with any questions or for additional picture's. Thank you and good luck.
