Chevrolet 3100 APACHE 1959 Description

"NO RESERVE"1959 CHEVROLET 3100 APACHE
This is gonna be a great story about a man with a desire to do something he had never done before, restore a 1959 Chevrolet Apache 3100 Truck in his garage. The story begins about 5 or 6 years ago when Don found and bought a very solid, running and driving 1959 Apache Truck and proceeded to dissemble the vehicle in his garage using all the nice new tools he had recently purchased. Don slowlyand methodically, being sure to bag and tag everything and take plenty of pictures just like the pros on TV began the restoration. Don eventually over a 4 year period worked in the evenings and weekends until one day he stepped back and to his proud amazement he had completed the restoration of this beautiful example of a late 50s icon in the collector truck world. Now that we have given the background of the owner and restorer of the Truck lets talk about the star of the auction. The 1959 Chevrolet 3100 Apache Stepside Truck THE FRAME AND SUSPENSION: The cab, bed and driveline was removed and the frame was sand blasted. The suspension, brakes, hubs etc were removed and reconditioned or replaced with new parts where needed like all bushings, front and rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, brake linesand hardware. All steering componets were replaced with new parts and new hardware along with new shocks on all four corners. MOTOR, TRANS AND REAREND: The 235ci 6 cylinder was removed in great running condition but Don being the guy he is went ahead and sent it off to the expert and had it rebuilt with new bearings, rings, cam and lifters, seals and gaskets. Don painted everything the correct colors and reinstalled the motor and mounted a new 2bbl Weber carb with electric choke along with a new fuel pump. New distributor, points, rotor, cap, wires and plugs and he had a sweet running 235ci six cylinder. The 3 speed transmission only needed new fluid and was reinstalled with new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing and new paint. The rear end was also serviced with new gear lube, repaintedand reinstalled with new driveshaft and universal joints. The axels, pinion and ring gear were inspected and in great condition. A new 12 volt alternator/generator was mounted with new belt and battery. Don pushed in the clutch, turned the key and pushed the floor starter and the Apache came to life. INTERIOR. CAB AND BED: The cab was removed from the frame, gutted and sent off to the body shop along with the bed where they stripped everything down to bare metal and repaired the only rust area which was the cab corner. The paint used was PPG base and clear that was wet sanded, cut and buffed to a beautiful shine. While the cab and bed were out of the garageDon refurbished or replaced with new the speedometer and gauges, steering column, steering wheel, and gear shift lever. When the cab returned from the paint shop he installed a layer of Dynamat for sound deadening under new carpet. The seat was recovered and new foam used, the seat frame was cleaned but not repainted. The new headliner and dash pad went in next. A new gas tank and sending unit were installed along with new door handles, windows, quarter glass, front and back glass and seals. New mirror and all rubber door seals were installedand the cab was reunited with the chassis. The bed contains the only non original panel which is the tailgate and was reassembled with a new wood floor and all hardware is new. The bumpers are original and were sand blasted and repainted and reinstalled using new hardware. All wiring front to rear is new and all lights and accessories work as they should. The original tail lights were not used because Don opted for the leds in the bed rails for better visability and safety, looks pretty cool too. The wheels are original and have been sandblasted and powder coated for durability and the tires are modern radials with only 1200 miles. Don spared no expense on this build and only used professional shops for the motor rebuild and the paint and body work. He restored the truck to drive and enjoy, and over the last year has put around 1200 miles on the Apache going to car shows, cruise insand just driving around the beautiful Alabama back roads. Don proved to himself that he had the ability and persistence to accomplish something most of us only see thru the car shows on tv. In summary the Apache runs and drives down the road just like it did new in 1959. It drives strait with no shakes or shimmies and brakes strait and true. There are no leaks or drips coming from anywhere and all fluids are clean and fresh. As mentioned in the previous paragraph Don did put 1200 miles on the truck since the restoration andthere are a few areas where the paint has a few stone chips and some scuffing around the doorswhere the latch is, also some chips in the window channels and some chips on the inside of the doors. Overall in my opinion the truck in all areas is a 9.5 out of 10 and that comes from 16 years owning my own car lot and representing many vehicles of this caliber. Don is very proud of his work and the pictures providedshould speak for themselves. eBay will only allow 24 pictures but we have a folder full of pictures of the restoration process and can provide them upon request along with pics of any of the chipping paint areas mentioned in the previous paragraph. I always run my auctions no reserve so that the market dictates what the vehicle is worth based on the vehicle merits, condition and the job I do describing it. Don and I are selling the vehicle as is with no warranties written or implied. However, if for any reason upon inspection of the truck you feel that I have deceived, misled or lied in this description your deposit will be returned minus fuel if I deliver and we can go our separate ways still friends. Ican deliver the Apache to the new owner,on an open trailer anywhere in the lower 48 for $1.00 per loaded mile if the new owner so desires. I am a licensed, insured and bonded used car dealer herein Alabama and will take the greatest care with that service.
