Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1958 Description
I purchased this vehicle a short time ago with the intent of fixing it up better than it is. I have another old vehicle I have been restoring and quickly found that trying to restore two at the same time is not working. In its present condition this car can be driven daily. Of course there are a number of things that could be fixed or improved depending upon how far you want to take the restoration. As it is, whenever I stop somewhere it always attracts a crowd and gets positive comments.Mechanical:Drive train works great. Had a new crate 350 engine installed in 2007. Engine startseasily and runs strong, transmission also replaced in 2007, shifts smooth, rear end works fine. The car has no leaks. It has manual steering and brakes, both work well. Has rebuilt steering gear box, new gas tank and fuel pump, new radiator, electric radiator fan, transmission cooler.
Exterior:
This car passes the 10' foot rule in that from 10' it looks great, however upon closerinspection you can see that it has had body work and been repainted. The car spent some years in Florida which probably lessened the rust problem however it did have some degree of rust that has been repaired. The frame appears solid as does the floor boards, the trunk does haverusted holes. Most of the chrome is in excellent condition, but there is some that isn't.Front and rear bumpers have been rechromed. Stainless trim is missing from around the rear window but I have all the pieces except a 6"corner.Interior:
The inside is presentable. The seats are not original, not sure what car they came from but they do fit well and are in good shape, no holes, tears, etc. The headliner appears new.Things that do not work are: one of the windows, wipers, cigarette lighter, clock, speedometer/odometer ( odometer shows 82K but I do not know actual miles) Things that do work: supplemental gauges for temperature, volts, and oil pressure, turn signals, headlights, parking lights, and aftermarket radio with CD player.
The color appears to be anniversary gold, used on 58 chevys.
