Chevrolet S-10 1991 Description
This beautiful Black with Purple Ghost Flames tubed bed sporting a 12K paint job is a Beast. Truck was taken home and with less than 200 miles on it the torch was taken out and cut up. The body was removed and a set of narrowed frame rails and steel wheel tubs were welded into place. With the metal still smoking a LS6 454 was already hanging on the cherry picker with a Ford nine-inch differential housing with 4.56 gears, a Detroit Locker and Moses Engineering alloy axles was assembled and installed. To hold it in place, Chassis Engineering coil-overs and ladder bars are used. While under there a front suspension with Bell Tech shocks, drop spindles and stock sway bars. For brakes large Ford rear drums to help out the factory front discs. The crate motor, which uses 10.25.1 compression pistons, got some help from the aftermarked. A Competition Cams stick (.575-inch lift, 305 duration). A Pete Jackson gear drive, a custom oil pan made by Harry Nettle. Harland Sharp roller rockers, a Weland Team G intake manifold and a Holley 750 Dominator. Harry Nettle also helped make the headers (1-7/8-inch primary tubes and three inch collectors, MSD ignition, the 16-gallon fuel cell and the Flowmaster mufflers (three inch exhaust) were storebought. For cooling a custom radiator makes sure the bigh Chevy runs at a cool 180.
A Turbo 350 trans got the call to transfer the power but not without help. A B&M manual valvebody, a TCI 10 inch race convertor with a 3500 rpm stall speed make sure the power gets back to the Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pro steamrollers (31X18.5) and the "Centerline Convo Pro rims.
At the bodyshop the gas door was filled, the fuel cell frenched in and a roll pan bumper cover and fiberglass hood scoop were installed, The interior was kept basically stock, and a Grant Wheel, B&M Pro Stick shifter and a gaggle of Auto Meter gauges. This truck is beautiful and featured in 3 different magazines, including Hot Rod September 1994
