Chevrolet El Camino 1974 Description
3 OWNER 81K 1974 EL CAMINO CLASSIC.HERE WE HAVE A NICE AND STRICTLY MAINTAINED EXAMPLE OF YOUR MID 1970'S EL CAMINO.
IF YOU ENJOY HISTORY ON YOUR CLASSIC CARS THEN I WILL BORE YOU WITH THE LIFE OF THIS EL CAMINO AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE STORIES THEN SKIP DOWN TO THE OTHER PRUDENT INFORMATION.
THIS AUTOMOBILE COMES WITH A FAIR AMOUNT OF PAPER WORK THAT HAS BEEN SAVED SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW AND AFTER A FAIR AMOUNT OF TIME THE HISTORY OR STORY PER SAY WAS EASY TO FIGURE OUT AND AFTER FINDING THE ORIGINAL OWNER WHICH 2 YEARS AGO WAS 86 YEARS OLD I TALKED WITH HER FOR SOME TIME AND THE PAPER TRAIL LED TO THE EXACT STORY THAT SHE HAD TOLD ME.
THIS CHEVROLET WAS PURCHASED NEW IN THE SEATTLE AREA BY A WOMAN AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO KETCHIKAN AK. WHERE SHE MARRIED AND RESIDED THERE UNTIL 1986 WHERE HER HUSBAND WAS TRANSFERRED TO LOS ANGELES WHERE THEY RESIDED UNTIL 1990 WHEN THEY MOVED TO SPOKANE WA.
WHEN THE AUTOMOBILE WAS NEW SHE HAD A TOPPER PAINTED TO MATCH THE CAR AND RESIDED ON THE CAR UNTIL 2014 WHICH EXPLAINS THE NICE CONDITION OF THE BED. IN 1976-77 THEY HAD THE CAR COMPLETELY REPAINTED FROM THE LIGHTER GREEN TO A BEAUTIFUL DARK METALLIC GREEN BECAUSE SHE NEVER REALLY LIKED THE LIGHTER GREEN.THE JOB WAS DONE PROPERLY INCLUDING JAMS WHICH WAS A QUALITY JOB BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO LOOK CLOSE TO FIND ANY AREAS THAT THEY MISSED AND THE PAINT HAS HELD UP VERY WELL.BETWEEN 1976 AND 1987 HE HAD A AFTER MARKET STEREO WITH DOOR SPEAKERS AND HEAD MOUNTED SPEAKERS INSTALLED ALONG WITH 1966 THUNDERBIRD TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS AND FOG LIGHTS INSTALLED ALONG WITH A NICE ONE PIECE VINTAGE STYLE FLOOR MAT,A COMPASS INSTALLED AND UNDERDASH AIR CONDITIONING ALONG WITH A ALARM SYSTEM INSTALLED IN 1986.
THE AIR CONDITIONING BLOWS NICE AND COLD AND THE ALARM SYSTEM HAS BEEN ALL BUT REMOVED.EVERYTHING INCLUDING ALL LIGHTS,CLOCK,SPEEDO, CT. WORK EXCEPT FOR THE AFTER MARKET CRUISE CONTROL WHICH I NEVER LOOKED INTO.IT DOES LEAK OIL ABOUT THE SIZE OF A FIFTY CENT PIECE ON THE RIGHT REAR OF THE ENGINE SO I AM ASSUMING THAT THE VALVE COVER GASKET IS LEAKING SINCE I DOUBT THEY HAVE EVER BEEN REPLACED.
HER HUSBAND PASSED AWAY IN 1996 AND SHE KEPT THE CAR UNTIL 2000 WHEN SHE SOLD IT A FRIEND OF THERE'S WHICH HIM AND HIS BROTHER OWNED 14 OTHER EL CAMINO'S ALL TUCKED AWAY IN THERE LARGE SHOP GETTING THEM OUT TO DRIVE THEM EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE UNTIL ONE OF THE BROTHERS PASSED AWAY AT 75 YEARS OF AGE SO THEY WERE ALL SOLD OFF. HE HAD TOLD ME THAT HE DROVE THIS CAR AROUND 150 MILES IN ALL OF THOSE YEARS.
I PURCHASED THIS AUTOMOBILE 2 YEARS AGO THIS MONTH AND WAS PLANNING ON KEEPING IT BECAUSE IT DRIVES LIKE A 60,000 MILE CAR EXCEPT I HAD THE CHANCE TO REPURCHASE A 1962 CHEVROLET THAT I RESTORED SEVERAL YEARS AGO AND WE DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR 3 CLASSIC'S SO THIS ONE HAS TO GO.
UPON MY PURCHASE THIS CAR HAD THE ORIGINAL STOCK WHEELS AND HUBCAPS,TOPPER AND WHITE WALLS ALONG WITH SINGLE EXHAUST.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR WITH A ORIGINAL TITLED 67,500 MILES WHICH MY MONTANA TITLE ALSO SHOWS AS 68,000.THE FIRST YEAR I REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKES AND REAR BRAKES WITH A BEARING PACK, IL AND FILTER CHANGE,NEW POINTS,CAP AND ROTOR PLUGS AND WIRES ALONG WITH A FACTORY DELCO AM/FM "STEREO" RADIO WITH A BUILT IN JACK FOR YOUR MP3 PLAYER TO REPLACE THE AFTER MARKET RADIO THAT WAS INSTALLED IN THE 1970'S.WITHIN THE LAST YEAR I HAD RALLYE WHEELS INSTALLED ALONG WITH NEW COOPER TIRES TO REPLACE THE OLD 24 YEAR OLD WHITE WALLS THOUGH THEY STILL HAD A SOLID 80% TREAD LEFT TO GIVE THE CAR A LITTLE SPORTIER LOOK WHILE STILL RETAINING THE 1970'S VINTAGE LOOK.MY ALIGNMENT MAN THAT I HAVE USED GOING ON 30 YEARS NOW TOLD ME THAT THIS FRONT END IS NICE AND TIGHT AND IT DRIVES LIKE IT.
THIS YEAR I REPLACED THE STARTER ALL COOLING HOSES,FULLY NEW DUAL EXHAUST SYSTEM WITH N.O.S.WALKER PIPES FROM THE MANIFOLDS BACK WITH FLO MASTER SERIES 3 OR 4 MUFFLERS WHICH GIVE THIS CLASSIC A NICE TONE.AS I MENTIONED EARLIER I PLANNED ON KEEPING THIS CAR.THIS SPRING I INSTALLED A NEW TONNEAU COVER WITH BOWS TO PROTECT THE BED.
THE BODY AND PAINT IS A 5- 10 FOOTER AND SHINES VERY NICE YET BUT NEVER THE LESS IS SHOWING IT'S AGE.YOU WILL SEE SOME RUST THAT HAS STARTED ON THE DRIVERS REAR QUARTER,SEVERAL DOOR DINGS IN BOTH DOORS THAT LUCKILY DIDN'T CHIP THE PAINT AND SMALL SCRATCHES HERE AND THERE WITH A FEW DEEPER SCRATCHES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOOD ALONG WITH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE GRILL HAVING A SHALLOW WOWIE.I DO HAVE A FRIEND THAT HAS A PERFECT GRILL WITH PERFECT CHROME THAT WILL BE AVAILABLE AFTER HE RETURNS FROM WORKING THE FIRES CURRENTLY IN CALIF.THE ONLY REAL NOTICEABLE MARKS IN THE PAINT IS UP ON BOTH REAR ROOF PILLARS WHERE THE FRONT EDGE OF THE TOPPER SCRATCHED THE PAINT WHEN PEOPLE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED THE TOPPER.THE PAINT STILL RETAINS NICE DEPTH AND A GOOD SHINE.THE INTERIOR IS VERY NICE WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE BACK OF THE DRIVERS SEAT THAT STARTED SPLITTING LAST FALL AND I NEVER GOT AROUND TO GLUING PATCHES OVER THE RIPS TO KEEP THEM FROM SPREADING.THE FLOOR BOARDS AND THE FOOT WELLS UNDER THE BED ARE ROCK SOLID.
THE CAR CAME WITH THE 350 AND THE 2 BBL CARB.THIS EL CAMINO STARTS,RUNS AND DRIVES LIKE A 60K MILE AUTOMOBILE.I DROVE THESE WHILE WORKING AT A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHEN THEY WERE NEW SO I KNOW VERY WELL HOW THEY DROVE AND HANDLED AND THIS ONE IS NO EXCEPTION.
THIS CAR DOES NOT SMOKE AND THE BLOW BY TUBE BLOWS CLEAN.THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS AS IT SHOULD.
THIS EL CAMINO SPORTS SUCH A NICE RIDE AND HANDLES LIKE IT SHOULD WITH THE AIR SHOCKS AT 10 PSI. LIKE THE FACTORY RECOMMENDED.
I HAVE PUT 14,000 MILES ON THIS CAR WHICH INCLUDED SEVERAL 2400 MILE ROUND TRIPS TO CAR SHOWS AND HAVE ENJOYED THE RIDE EVERY TIME. I DO NEED TO MENTION THAT THIS IS A LOW MILEAGE AUTOMOBILE AND THAT IT HAS NOT BEEN A STORED AWAY TRAILER QUEEN AS YOU SEE COME AVAILABLE FROM TIME TO TIME.IT HAS BEEN DRIVEN AS A DAILY DRIVER FOR IT'S FIRST 22 YEARS AND THOUGH GARAGED HAS SEEN ANOTHER 14,000 MILES OF USE THOUGH IT IS A VERY NICE LOOKING AND WONDERFUL DRIVING 41 YEAR OLD EL CAMINO AND GETS LOOKS EVERYWHERE YOU GO.
THIS CAR HAS BEEN ADULT DRIVEN ALL OF IT'S LIFE AND IT SHOWS.
BEING A ANTIQUE AND CLASSIC CAR OWNER MYSELF FOR OVER 30 YEARS I HAVE SOLD MY OWN AUTOMOBILES ALONG WITH MANY CARS OF MY FRIENDS FROM OUR CAR CLUBS WITHIN THE U.S. AND OVER SEAS CUSTOMERS FOR MANY YEARS WITH ALWAYS POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND HAPPY AND POSITIVE TRANSACTIONS.
THIS CAR IS PRICED TO SELL WITH A REASONABLE RESERVE.
A VERY TIGHT AND CARED FOR AUTOMOBILE THAT WILL GIVE YEARS OF DRIVING PLEASURE
HAPPY BIDDING!

A FEW MORE ITEMS THAT I HAVE BEEN ASKED ABOUT AND HAD FORGOT TO MENTION IS ALL OF THE GLASS IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION WITH NO CHIPS OR CRACKS AND THE THE DASH IS EXCELLENT EXCEPT FOR ONE SMALL CRACK ON EACH SIDE OF THE FACTORY SPEAKER HOLES THAT FOLLOW THE VERY OUTSIDE HOLES OF THE SPEAKER CUT OUT ITSELF.
WITH ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE NEW PEOPLE TO EBAY AND WITH THE RECENT BID RETRACTION FROM A NEW E-BAYER WITH 1 FEEDBACK WITH NO CONVERSATION PRIOR I AM NOW ADDING A AUTOMATIC BLOCK ON E-BAYERS WITH A 5 FEEDBACK RATING OR LESS AND WILL REMOVE ANY BIDS WITH 10 FEEDBACKS OR LESS WITHOUT CONTACTING ME PRIOR TO BIDDING ON THIS LISTING.PURCHASING A ANTIQUE OR VINTAGE AUTOMOBILE IS A IMPORTANT DECISION AND IT IS ONLY FAIR THAT BIDDERS KNOW WHERE THEY STAND THROUGHOUT THE LISTING.
