BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
1961 Belair 4dr sedan - excellent project
sleeper / ratrod / restomod in progress...
The conversion was started back in the late 90s
Using parts from an 87 GTA Trans AM, 350 TPi
and 700R and disc brake rearend transplanted into
a 61 4dr Belair that had been sitting here in the
desert climate for many yrs, the coversion got to a point
to where it was it starts with the key and drives
around, but its not finished to what I would call be
road worthy at moment. Most all the hard stuff is done
Now its finishing the loose ends. Ive driven it to the store
and its been to a few local car shows, but the drive
wasnt exactly safe in my opinion. When the front
brake conversion was done, so where most of the
front bushings and misc suspension components were
too.. but never aligned. On the rear suspension the
correct springs where never installed. After the rearend
was installed and new lines ran for the brakes etc, the
car stops, but the pedal has always felt mushy, even
after trying to bleed the system a few times. The rod
for the master also may not be the correct length.
Fuel and water temp gauges seem to work, speedo not
converted yet. No exhaust to speak of after the Y pipe
either. The Belair was and is a pretty rust free Az
desert car, but the front floors needed replacing and
the new pans are in, but not welded up yet.
Read below for more details and pix !
We can help get it shippedfor a fair price too anywhere.
DONT BID UNLESS YOU HAVE THE FUNDS IN HAND, apparently some people
who use ebay arent smart enough to understand the rules.
So if you have under 10 feedbacks, Ill be emailing you if you bid to
make sure you are legit, if we do please reply or we will cancel your bid.
These cars are getting harder to find esp in this condition
that are still affordable to most buyers.
DRIVETRAIN: the Motor runs well and trans shifts great, but
the linkage still needs some adjusting, sometimes it doesnt want
to stay in PARK and rolls a little till it catches. Touch the key and
it fires and runs wells. Idles fine and Ive driven it like I said to the
store and at least 10 miles myself in the last month. No overheating
or issues there. Good power and throttle response. Sometimes
it smells a little rich after a good romp, not sure why. (maybe no cat?)
Brake pedal mushy as mentioned earlier.
INTERIOR: take a look at the pics, the interior of this car is pretty well
worn out but shows in the pics okay. The carpet is cheaper stuff put
down just to cover the pans not welded in yet. Ive never had the
covers off the seats, but they Im sure are prob original and worn too.
I rather like the covers for now. Original headliner in pretty amazing
shape, and door panels etc showing age too.
EXTERIOR:the body pretty straight for its age, its still wearing
alot of its original green paint, or what was left of it. Some body
work was done near the RF headlight and rear a little too.
But rocker, rear 1/4s etc are pretty nice. Lower front fender rot
is there I think on one side. All the glass is good except, driver front
door glass missing. Pieces missing under the front bumper are actually
in the trunk as is 90% of the trim missing off the car is in a long
cardboard tube ready for cleaning, repairing and then get re installed
if you decide to paint it later.
Rust is pretty mild and the rot anywhere is minimal too
Headlights work, not sure about the taillights
SUSPENSION:the front as mentioned has had alot of
work done to it, including 72 Chevelle style I think front disc
conversion. Rearend is rear disc outta the 87 TA. Needs
correct rear coils asap. The conversion for the rear looks
pretty decent, they even installed the Panard bar off the TA.
Wheels are 15x7 front and 15x8 GM Rallys. Not sure if the
caps shown in some of the pics will come with them yet.
Tires are not too bad.
Minimal rust under the car, making taking this car apart, almost a breeze !!
Check out ALL the pics below ----->
it may take a full minute for them all to load ifyou have a
slow connection, so be patient AND looks for the extra scroll
bar on the right side.
Az gets maybe 12" a yr of rain and Az very dry climate.
more infoAFTER the pics etc. There are 100 large pics.
There you have it, probably The BEST represented Belairs
on ebay !
Shows you all the good as well as any bad, hope you appreciate them.
We put a lot of time and effort in marketing our cars and it shows.
People wait months for a car this solid to come up for sale
and even if you have to pay shipping to your area, it still beats
paying a body shop to hopefully fix a rusty car for weeks on end.
Having as much as the original steel on a restored car these days
speaks volumes.
Also, if you buy a car thats been "restored", who knows what sort
of surprises are hidden under new paint or thick undercoating.
People are flipping cars all the time when most of the jobs are
fast, for a quick buck and quality suffers.
Email us with ANY questions before you bid please
Our Impeccable FEEDBACK speaks for itself. We show you as
much feasibly possible via pics.
Dont let auctions withlittle to no pics try to fool you.
If they cant take the time to take pics of areas under the car they
are selling, maybe its not the best car to buy long distance.
With other auctions, you really dont know what to expect
until you take the car apart. While we go over our cars ALL OVER
with great pics to help making your decision easier.
Along with ANY other questions you may have.
