Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
Is the first-generation Camaro the most perfect muscle car? Well, when you see cars like this 1968 Chevrolet Camaro hardtop, it's hard to argue against it. Stunning good looks, a fresh small block V8, perfect proportions, and real leather seats, what's not to love?I don't care who you are, these Camaros are cool. This one is the perfect machine for cruising, hitting up the local car shows, and perhaps for driving to work on those special Fridays when you'll take the long way home. The handsome Indigo blue paint job screams high performance, and thanks to a pair of white SS stripes buried under the clear, it has a very clean look overall. A cowl induction hood is always the right look on an early F-body, as is the original-style ducktail spoiler. Workmanship is quite good overall, with flat panels, good gaps, and a paint job that makes people do double-takes as you pass, giving you the "thumbs up" along the way. In fact, the sheetmetal looks original suggesting this has always been a clean, solid car. Chrome bumpers look freshly re-plated, and all the badges and insignias have been faithfully reinstalled, and I salute their sense of restraint for avoiding the ubiquitous SS emblems.Standard fare for the '68 Camaro was a black interior that was so long on style and comfort that upgrades were rarely needed. Nevertheless, during the restoration the bucket seats got a set of stylish black leather seat covers that are simply gorgeous. It shows zero wear on any of the new parts such as the seat covers, carpets, or door panels, and the seats are glove soft, making it feel very luxurious inside. The billet 4-spoke steering wheel is a nice touch, as is the horseshoe shifter for the automatic transmission, and the woodgrain accents on the console actually match the dash pretty well. Cool white faced gauges from Auto Meter replace the originals and cover all the basics. A newer AM/FM stereo head unit has been installed in the original radio's location, and there's factory A/C that blows nice and cold thanks to modern hardware under the hood. The trunk is bare-bones, but includes a full-sized spare and correct spatter-finish paint. That numbers-matching 327 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt just 918 miles ago and dressed up with so much chrome that you'll just have to pop the hood every chance you get. Those shiny valve covers and a matching air cleaner are nice touches, but you'll also find an EnduraShine Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor, a chrome alternator and master cylinder, and bright orange paint on the block to tie it all together. It runs smoothly, as you'd expect from a small block Chevy, and has that characteristic rumble compliments of long-tube headers and a Flowmaster dual exhaust system. The rugged PowerGlide 2-speed automatic transmission is the original numbers matching unit as well and it spins a rugged 10-bolt out back, so feel free to dip into the throttle and enjoy the horsepower as intended. Gray Torque Thrust wheels are always right on a Camaro and carry staggered 235/45/17 front and 275/40/17 rear performance radials. If you're looking for a great F-body to enjoy, this one is beautifully finished and ready to enjoy.
