Chevrolet G20 Van 1979 Description
Description:
First off, do not bid on this vehicle unless you are willing to pay for it!
Here it is folks, a1979 Chevy conversion van, that has the quintessential funky 70's flair. It has been a daily driver for me over the past few months, but alas, it's time to let it go to someone that can take better care of it.
Overall, it's in great shape considering it's a 37 year old vehicle. The interior is done up with red velvet upholstery and gold/green/brown sculptured shag carpet. It has 4 captains chairs (front two swivel)and a rear bench seat that folds down into a bed (sleeps two 6ft individuals comfortably). There are two table ports mounted into the floor. One in the front, and another in the back, right in front of the bench seat. You can see the table mounted in the front position in the photos. There is a workingswitch panel on the ceiling that controls the interior lighting. There are power windows and power locks that also work.
The 350CI/5.7L engine is a trooper and runs well. Sometimes it's slow to start when it's cold outside, but it always comes around. I recently had the oil and filterschanged, and changed the alternator belt. The Freon was updated some years ago, but needs a recharge. I will include a new container of Freonto charge the A/C for the new owner. The transmission shifts well and doesn't slip or struggle.
The tires are in excellent shape, and should hold for thousands of miles. The undercarriage is pretty much rust free, as the van has been in a salt free environment its entire life. Oh yeah, and check out those Cyclone rims! They could use a good scrubbing, and one of the American Racing center caps is missing (I removed one to properly measure it), but replacements are readily available for pretty cheap. The roof rack is pretty rare, and features the Chevrolet logo milled out of the support struts. The ladder is nice and sturdy. I also have a full size spare with a rear tire carrier that I will throw in as well.
So all that stuff was good, now for the not so good. About two weeks ago the stereo (new Pioneer cd player with all new speakers), the blower, and the gauges on the dash stopped working. They come on sometimes, so I imagine that there's a loose connection somewhere. But since I know virtually nothing about electrical work, I am unable to fix it.
The paint job doesn't look to be original, and isn't show quality... but damn, those space murals are stunning. The main color of the van is a pearl gray, that really sparkles in the sunlight. You have to see this thing to believe it.
