Chevrolet Corvette 1989 Description
LOW RESERVE and BUY IT NOW!Here is a nice Low-Mile driver/collection Vette. Only 40,300 miles!!! Non-smoker, adult collector owned, stored indoors, covered. It is enhanced with a classic Greenwood style ground effects kit and wing. I purchased this car in 2012 from a local businessman who has a large private Corvette collection. This was one of three bright blue C4 vettes he had at the same time, not to mention some of every other color! The seat bottoms were professionally recovered right before I bought it, I don't know why. Shortly after I purchased it, the fuel injectors started leaking (very common problem for late 80's vettes with the change in todays new fuel mixtures) so I replaced them with new, flow matched Hi-Pro injectors from a well known Corvette fuel injector tuner. While at it, the top end was refurbished, painted the custom color you see here with new gaskets, etc. I drove it a while and then parked it in my garage, with my other collection of vettes and rods because my job switched to a work from home full time. In the last 3 years, it has had probably a total of 250 miles put on it! The tires are new one year ago, over $1,000 and have less than 100 miles on them. Newer battery too. I fire it up and sometimes drive around the block about once a month to maintain the fluids and battery. I just don't drive anymore, and my health recently has me now cutting down the collection, I have health-care bills and my health to worry about, unfortunately cars are not high on the list at this stage in my life. So I think it is time for someone else to enjoy this great car!
Paint is in great shape, but does have a few imperfections that you can only notice from about a foot away. I would say it is a 9 out of 10. Interior is very good, dash is perfect, no cracks, I would rate it also very high on the 10 scale. I always used Mobil-1 Full Synth oil in oil changes. It is an older car now, just looks pretty new. It has aged well, but there are a few things I will let you know are not right but may not deter from the enjoyment of the car. 1) drivers seat is refinished nicely, but not original leather style. It is comfortable and works great. 2) Previous owner changed out the steering wheel. I like it better than the original, so I don't mind, gives it a racy look. 3) "Door Ajar" light is on the dash, one of the door pin switches must have failed. It was like this in 2012, and it is way out of view, so I just drive it as it is. 4) A/C sometimes blows cold, and sometimes doesn't, possibly getting low on refrigerant or one of the A/C pressure sensors is bad. 5) It has been sitting, it needs to be driven. There is a slight shake in the tires at 65+ MPH, they are pretty smooth at around town speeds, hardly notice it under 50. I think they may just need driving and are a little flat on one spot from sitting for a few months. I read on corvette forums that the hubs may just need to be driven for a while to redistribute the smoothness back. Or maybe just needs balanced again. You can see in the videos how it is at speeds 40-60mph, some of the shake in the steering wheel was the really rough tar strips you can see in the road. 6) I think it may be nearing time for front brakes, but it stops fine. 7) The Bose Amplified speakers need the "leaking capacitor" fixed possibly, in each speaker. It is a super common problem with these speakers in Vettes. Most people just put in a new stereo system. The speakers will randomly click/pop with noise because of this problem. Antenna does work, radio works, but I will list the problems here so you know about it. 8) The Corvette emblem on the engine valve cover is not on at the moment. I will look for it, but no promises that it will have one. It fell off and may be under the car. That is about it from what I know, I drove it for a hour earlier this week, including a nice "country" drive, and that is all I could tell was wrong. Just wanting to be up front and honest with what I know, buying a car is a big deal. I don't really have the time or energy to fix these, but they should be fairly minor issues.
The car fires right up, does not smoke, does not overheat, and it revs/pulls as hard as any stock L98 I have been in. See all the photos and videos for what you are getting. Since it is now an older car, there is no warranty, no promises and is sold AS-IS, no refunds or returns. It is a used sports car, you need to be prepared for that fact, even if you are buying one that is only a year old. Like any used car that has been driven, it may have a few imperfections from use like rock chips, door dings, and general signs of use. It isn't a perfect car, but it is really really nice. As far as I know I am the 3rd owner and at least two of us, it was part of a larger corvette collection that was loved for. Very low reserve for what was a practically a supercar in its day. Would make a great weekend driver, collection or even race car.
