Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1986 Description
Here is a fine example of an original MCSS. This was a highly optioned car to include power windows, power locks, power steering/brakes, AC, T Tops AMFM cassette, remote trunk opener, tilt wheel, cruse control. This car spent most of its life in a Chevy dealer showroom in FL and was driven mostly by the owners daughter though I can verify none of this as this is what was reported to me by the second owner who bought it from them as he was her next door neighbor in Florida. I bought the car from them in 2009 and drove it to my home near Augusta, GA and have kept it in the garage under a custom California all weather cover where it resides now. It had 69000 miles when I bought it so you can see I very rarely take her out but I do try to start it monthly to keep the cylinders lubed. It took quite a while to find an unmolested monte of this caliber. I was reading the second owners ad and will reiterate what he wrote. The car is 100% original with the exception of an upgraded Edelbrock carb, K&N air filter and dual flowmaster exhausts (btw sounds awesome) The radiator, water pump and brakes were replaced sometime between 2006-2008. Due to some type of paint defect the car was stripped and repainted in 1987 under warranty by Chevrolet. That paint is original to the car. I don't know if the whole car was stripped at that time or what the issue was. The interior is very nice. No sagging headliner, no cracked dash no stains or wear. It has spent its entire life garaged. I have all the original paperwork to include owners manual, original bill of sale, repair invoices from previous owners and the build sheet. Now for the full disclosure of what isn't great. There are some minor blemishes in the paint as you have to look close and there is a scuff on the upper pass side fender in the stripes and a tiny dent in the left fender near the top. The T tops don't leak at least when I washed it as I never took it out in the rain. It probably could use a good carb cleaning and drop the gas tank to get fresh fuel to her but I just drove it 15 miles when I took the pictures and it runs fine. The AC used to work but it requires R12 for a recharge and I was going to have it converted but never did. The cruise control is no longer functional since the holley carb was replaced. I have no idea if it could be hooked back up to the edelbrook carb....it's too fun to drive so why bother. It has a small oil leak when parked as I put cardboard down under the car....never looked hard to find out where it is coming from. I replaced the drivers side power window motor as it took forever for it to go up and I replaced the stereo with a nice Sony unit that will hook up to an MP3 player if so desired.I have the original AMFM cassette Delco radio that works and can easily be swapped back to the original as the harness was left unmolested. A factory repair manual, California car brush and cover all go with the car. All the T top covers/holders are in the trunk and in fine condition and there is a front bra in the trunk that I never put on the car...it was in the trunk when I bought it and stayed there. If you aren't happy with the presentation of the car you can walk away and I'll refund your deposit. I can assist in shipping the car or picking you up if you fly in. Obviously with a 30+ year old car it is being sold as is where is with no warranty. I'm only selling it as I am moving to PA and am trying to avoid shipping it there. If it doesn't sell that's OK too as I'll keep it as it took a long time to find one this nice. If you need the higher quality pics I can send those as the ones on ebay aren't very good since they shut down the resolution. Any questions just ask and I'll get back the same day.
