Chevrolet Other 1972 Description
1972 Vega GT Roadster For Sale. This car was originally converted into a roadster in 1992. The frame was reinforced with a welded six-point roll-bar and two square-tube subframe connectors. The fiberglass, cowl-hood, front and rear spoilers were also added at that time, just before it was painted red with black stripes. It has been stored inside a climate-controlled garage ever since. The engine was steel-sleeved, rebuilt, ported, polished and deburred in 2012 and features a midrange/top-end SOHC CROWER racing profile camshaft and a pure WEBER DCEV 32/36 carburetor. Ignition is handled by a later-model HEI unit, ACCEL coil and TAYLOR wires. Exhaust flows freely through a ceramacoated, long-tube header, Magnaflow stainless muffler and dual/slash cut tip that exits just behind the driver's door. The engine is mated to a rare World-Class T-50 Five Speed transmission from a 1979 Buick Skyhawk. The rear differential houses a 3.36 rear gear. The mechanical radiator fan was replaced with an electric one to free up horsepower and reduce drag on the water pump. The upholstery is in great condition, with no rips, tears or fading. The carpet was replaced a few years ago and still looks great. It comes with matching ACC custom floor mats made from the same closed-loop carpet. This little car really turns heads. It is not perfect and has picked up a few door-dings through the years, but it is still very presentable. It's balanced engine sounds like a European exotic and runs very smooth while averaging 24 mpg! The car handles well thanks to its wide 13" Sumitomo Radials, Mullins steering box and fat aftermarket anti-sway bar. The rear sway-bar is an oem GM one.I hate to see the car go, but I had knee surgery a few years ago and a cable-clutch just isn't much fun on that knee! Buyer is responsible for shipping. Oh yes and THERE IS NO TOP! I never needed one, but the buyer could hire an upholstery person to fabricate a custom one if they desired to do so.
