1981 Chevrolet Corvette 26,466 Original Miles / T-Tops You are viewing a privately owned 1981 Chevrolet Corvette! Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this vehicle. You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who has owned this Corvette for the last 15 years. We will try to describe and go over most of the car, please read and view all of the 85 pictures listed below. Would you buy a car on ebay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO. That is why at Classic Cars Online, our listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Bid with confidence! Body & Paint: Body is finished in its original "Dark Blue Metallic" paint color (Code 28). (Note: The color is a beautiful deep blue. Some of the photos make the color look more on the teal side which it is not.) It was repainted once, not sure when. (We can only assume it was repainted because the original lacquer paint from the St. Louis plant started to crack and fail.) During that repaint, it was also two-toned with the silver color being added to the bottom half. The base coat/clear coat paint shows very well with only a few small chips and scratches. The vehicle is equipped with removable T-tops. The body panel fit, gaps and alignment is good. (Corvettes never had the best panel alignment.) The tape pinstripping is nice but there are a few areas that are starting to peel off and will need some attention to make it perfect. The original black trim pieces are nice but could use some touching up here and there. The left and right rocker moulding are in good shape without any major dents or road rash. Interior: The interior still has its original "Dark Blue" cloth material. (Trim Code 29C) Being a low mileage vehicle, there is very little wear on the interior which is in great condition without any rips, holes, tears, fading, or loose seams in the seats. The door panels and dash area is free of any cracks or marks. The interior trim is in great condition with only very minor wear on some of the black painted trim pieces. This is pretty typical with a vehicle of this age. The interior is very clean and shows very well. Everything is working as it should including the factory air conditioning which is blowing cold. All of the gauges, lights, wipers, horns, power windows, power locks, and factory AM/FM cassette radio along with the power antenna. The only things we found was the shift indicator needle was not working. (It may have become disconnected?) The other thing was the plastic face bezel on the air conditioning control lever area was coming loose. The storage compartments behind the seats are in great shape and houses the factory jack and jacking tools. The original T-Top storage bags are also kept in these storage compartments. Engine Compartment: Under the hood sits the original, matching number 350 cu. in. "L81" V-8 engine with an automatic transmission. With only 26,466 original miles, this power plant starts, runs and drives great without any unusual sounds, vibrations, or problems. The automatic transmission shifts out smoothly and is working great. Engine compartment is very original looking and is pretty clean. It is all stock looking and hasn't been played around with or modified. This original engine has never been rebuilt or tampered with. There never has been a need to. It doesn't tick, smoke, leak or overheat. Glass: All of the glass pieces are is great shape. The windshield looks good without any stone nicks or chips. The power windows and are working fine without any problems. The vehicle is equipped with a rear window defogger and the removable glass roof panels. (T-Tops) The glass roof panels are also in very nice condition. Wheels & Tires: The vehicle has the optional N90 Aluminum Wheels which are in great shape. No oxidation or curb scratches. Mounted on these wheels are four newer Goodyear Eagle GT II P255/60R15 raised white lettered radial tires. (The tires have about 1,000 miles on them.) A spare tire is stored in its compartment under the rear of the vehicle. The spare tire carrier is not broken or cracked. Great condition. Undercarriage: Again, this vehicle has low miles and a very clean and solid frame. It most likely never was driven in winter weather or on salty roads. It does have the typical surface rust on some of the bare metal components. As you can see from the undercarriage photos, the undercarriage is clean but not show detailed. The dual exhaust system is rusty but still looks solid without any leaks or holes. Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are several pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all and see why this vehicle is better then most.
