Chevrolet Vega 1976 Description
1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega - NO RESERVEGiven it's place within the history of General Motors and Chevrolet, I purchased this vehicle in February of this year as I felt that it would make a proper addition. However, given recent family events, I now have to sell it as I've not really had the opportunity to grow too attached to the vehicle. ("Last in, first out" mentality). I have a "free and clear" Illinois title for the car.
General information:This 1976 Cosworth Vega is #2541 out of approximately 3500 cars made between 1975 and 1976. The Cosworth Vega was the brainchild of John DeLorean and featured an all-aluminum, 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine with a Cosworth developed twin-cam 16V head and Borg Warner 5-speed. The MSRP was over twice that of a basic Vega coupe and with a few options, approached the base price of a Corvette. Period magazinesfound the Cosworth Vega to be competitive with the best sport coupes of the day. At the 2016 Kissimmee Mecum auction, a 56K miles, 1975 (4-speed), standard interior car went for $20.5K. What's that make this one worth? Who knows, but perhaps these cars have made their way within the collector market.
Below is the story of this vehicle:Based on the previous title (of which I have a photo), this car has been in Arizona since at least Jan. 26, 2000. I'm not real sure how the State of AZ keeps track of vehicle titles, but on this title, there is a previous title documented with a date of April 2, 1993. Does this mean it's been an AZ car for the past 23 years? I cannot answer that question with 100% confidence. At the time that the previous title was issued (Jan. 26, 2000), the mileage listed on the title for this vehicle was 71,558 miles. Therefore, in the past 16 years, the vehicle has only had 2373 miles clocked on the odometer! Since I have been in possession of the vehicle, I have drove it approximately 200 miles.
Taken from the listing from which I purchased: "The original Cosworth designed engine runs well and has had consistent maintenance. The all-aluminum, 16 valve, DOHC engine came with stainless steel headers and a Bendix electronic fuel injection system – heady stuff for an American car in 1976. This example also has the optional "dogleg" Borg Warner 5-speed transmission. The car was recently serviced with new plugs, battery, alternator, brakes, and tires. It runs and drives very well, with steering and suspension in good condition and no grinding or other issues while shifting."
Seller's notes:The only item that I've noticed is that the fuel gauge is "off" just a bit. It stated that I had a 1/4 tank of gas, when in fact, it was empty and I had to call the Mrs. to bring me some fuel. All other issues with the vehicle are documented within the pictures. Please look at them carefully! Based on the level of documentation included with the car, the previous owner was an enthusiast. Please ensure that you look at the pictures to see ALL of the manuals, extra parts/trim pieces that are provided in the sale. There are copies of emails that lead one to believe that the wheels have been refurbished and that some engine maintenance was performed as well. The dash does have some cracks, however, there is a carpet like pad that fits over it. The windows do have aftermarket tint on them. The original stereo was replaced at some point with a Sony aftermarket cassette deck, however, the original radio is provided in the sale.
I have other pictures (especially of the underside of the car, while up on a lift), however, it appears that I'm limited to 24 that I can upload. If you'd like to see them, please feel free to contact me.
I've done my best to represent this vehicle to the best of my abilities. Feel free to ask any question about the vehicle and I'll do my best to answer it as best I can.As with any 40 year old car, there is NO WARRANTY, either expressed or implied. Shipping is at the buyers expense.Good Luck and happy bidding.
