Chevrolet El Camino 1968 Description
Most All of Our Auctions End EarlyCall Us for A Great Price865 988 8088Up for sale we have a 1968 Chevy El Camino SS 396. In 1968 Chevy offered an El Camino with the SS package. It came with the 396 V8 4 Speed and a 12 Bolt Rear End. They only made about 5000 Super Sports in 68. This one has the 138 Vin and it’s a matching # Engine. They did a nice job on the resto with a lot new trim and interior. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior interior and heartbeat of the Chevy but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned operated and own our entire inventory no consignments and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 50 to 60 cars at all times. We don’t have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So that’s how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information pictures or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the El Camino. When you walk around it you will see an arrow straight body with good gaps and fit of the panels. They replaced the weather stripping as well as the seals. When you look at the glass it all looks good with the side glass working as it should. It has the correct SS Hood and Trim. When you look at the stainless and chrome it all looks good. The body is covered in Maroon which is the factory color for it. It’s accented by the black top trim and black bed cover. This truck has a killer look with the paint have a deep rich shine. The final exterior touch is the set of 18” and 20” American Racing Wheels and New Tires.
Next we will take a look at the interior of the Super Sport. On the inside it’s done with bucket seats and console. The seats door panels and carpet are done in saddle along with the dash pad. It has the factory tach in dash that works. Vintage Heat and AC was added along with the vintage AM FM radio. It retains the factory seat belts and still has the jack and spare behind the seat.
Finally we will take a look at the heartbeat of the Chevy. Under the hood it looks correct with the matching numbers 396 325 HP V8 that is mated to a Muncie 4 Speed and 12 Bolt Rear End. The engine is dressed with chrome valve covers and breather. The exhaust flows through a set of manifolds and flor master exhaust. It has Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes. When you look at the floor pans they look as good as any we have seen in an El Camino. There is no visible signs of rust or repairs. The Frame looks very solid the only thing we can see is at some time they added a drive shaft loop.
