Chevrolet Other Pickups 1957 Description
This 1957 Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck originally came with a 6 cylinder engine. Years ago the original ownerconverted it to a V8 using all 1957 Chevrolet factory mounting hardware. Mounting is done by the use of two studposts at the front of the engine suspended on rubber biscuits for vibration isolation. This is the way the Chevroletfactory mounted the engine on V8 equipped pickups in 1957. Engine is either a 265 or 283 and it turns over butthe bad news is it was stored without sufficient antifreeze and has either pushed out a freeze plug or cracked theblock. Water leaks out from behind the exhaust manifold on one side so it being hidden by the exhaust manifoldI cannot see where it is coming from exactly. Good news is this truck has only resided on the west coast it'swhole life (we don't salt the roads) and more good news is that it has resided inside a dry storage building since1995 and therefore it does not have as extensive rusting as you will see in a lot of unrestored 1957 pickups. Sureit has rust in the usual places but take a close look at the attached pictures and you won't see cavernous rottinganywhere. Original factory installed granny gear 4 speed rearend and front suspension. Frame is original andunmolested. Radio space in dash has been cut on but I am supplying an original Chevrolet mid dash section torepair this radio opening. This dash piece I am supplying is NOT a reproduction piece. Original matching 1970'sera Aluminum dish mags manufactured by US Mags come with the truck. Tires hold air but are shot. Aftermarketair cleaner comes with sale as well as a new JEGS wiring harness that has been started to be installed but notnearly finished. Not an overly expensive harness but at least to the quality of the original wiring. The harnesscomes with the original JEGS supplied instructions. Hood opens and closes nicely the hood hinges workflawlessly. Doors don't close as good as they should would need hinge adjusting / repair to shut as well as theydid on the assembly line in 1957. Typical glass damage from years of use such as windshield wiper scrapes inthe windshield cracked side glass. Window regulator is bad on driver's door. Stock recovered seat inside cab.Rear bumper replaced with chrome step bumper many years ago as well as a hidden heavy duty trailer hitchinstalled then as well. It has dual exhaust looks like someone started to cut on inner fender wells to installheaders but stopped cutting early on. To cure this problem I am including a very nice set of ORIGINAL unbentused CHEVROLET INNER FENDER WELLS they are not reproductions. Usual dings and dents throughout butnothing beyond the scope of a good body man. I cannot see why fenders and such would need replacing. Thisvehicle comes with a clear title it is a regular title NOT a salvage or reconstructed title. VIN plate has never beenremoved or damaged in any way. VIN numbers on PLATE on door post matches the vin numbers on the frameby the steering box. Overall it would not be difficult to restore this back to original condition or if you choose to goin any other direction this would be a good solid starting point.
