Chevrolet Chevelle 1966 Description

Do you want a big block Chevelle that's ready to hit the road? A handsome cruise night brawler with the right look? Love the thrill of big block torque, control of a slick-shifting 5-speed, and the comfort of A/C? In essence, you're looking for a no-compromises cruiser. Well, this 1966 Chevelle SS396 has all of that and more, and comes with a brilliant red wrapper to boot!Built a few years ago, this potent resto-mod has enhancements to almost every major system on board. Starting with the understated '66 hardtop body style is a great choice, because the hardware becomes as important as the look. That isn't to say it doesn't look great, but rather that you aren't distracted from the substance by a bunch of empty flash and graphics. The red paint gives it a high-performance look and while it shows some signs of age and use, there's still nothing like showing up in a red car with a baritone voice like this one has. You'll note that they wisely kept the original hood with its faux air intakes and added the requisite SS badges and crossed flag emblems on the front fenders, just to keep things looking like the factory intended. The chrome and stainless was brightened up and reinstalled, but again the overall look is fairly stock, giving this Chevelle a bit of cover for the performance that's hidden inside.Black upholstery is an excellent choice with the red bodywork and it's been neatly restored with a few tweaks to make it more comfortable in today's world. The custom "tuck-and-roll" stitching looks crisp and clean on the black seat covers and OEM-spec door panels that were installed a few years ago. A 2-spoke steering with wood rim is fitted to the stock tilt column and a trio of white-faced gauges were stashed under the dash, along with a period aftermarket tach strapped next to the steering column. The Hurst cue ball shows five gears underneath, thanks to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox, but the console is original, including the cool clock that's built right in. This is a factory air-conditioned car, but the system is now powered by modern components under the hood and R134a refrigerant, so it's easy to keep in top condition. And the AM/FM/iPod stereo system with speakers throughout the interior and a big subwoofer sounds fantastic regardless of what kind of music you prefer. The trunk is neatly detailed with a reproduction mat and a custom cover for the spare tire. The 396 cubic inch big block features some heavy-duty upgrades to make it really sing. There's a big cam in the center of the V, a Holley 4-barrel carb and aluminum intake, and an modern ignition system, all of which combine to deliver that big wallop of torque you expect from a big motor like this. It's also nicely finished, with bright Chevy Orange paint, some nice chrome dress-up, and careful workmanship to make it look tidy. And be sure to check out the custom aluminum radiator and shroud, as well as the neat integration of the factory A/C and aftermarket components. There's a set of 3.42 gears on a Posi in the 12-bolt out back, so this sucker lunges off the line like it's hungry but cruises easily at highway speeds without getting tiresome. Polished 15-inch Torque Thrust wheels really pop against the red paint and carry fat white-letter radials for a proper performance look. This car packs the right hardware at a very reasonable price. For those of you looking for a great cruiser, this is undoubtedly what you had in mind. Call today!
