Chevrolet Camaro 1982 Description
An all-new Camaro arrived in 1982 and it was a pretty big deal. If you were there, ou can recall seeing your first one on the street, nd it probably looked a lot like this 1982 Z/28. Aside from a single repaint in the original bright red, his car is almost entirely original, aking you back to the early '80s and the dawn of a new muscle car age.Although it looks familiar to us today, his car was extraordinary in 1982. Long, ow, nd wide, t instantly made us all forget the second-generation F-bodies and became the new face of performance at GM. Early cars like this look especially clean without the wings and scoops that would come later, nd in bright red with silver ground effects, t has a great performance look. The repaint actually looks right, ot too shiny, ut glossy enough for some folks to mistake it for original paint. The hood inserts are correct satin black, s are the headlight buckets, dding to the car's aggressive look. The urethane bumpers are in excellent shape with no signs of cracking or splitting that often happen just with age, nd the chin spoiler hasn't been abused by parking lot curbs and steep driveways. Someone really took care of this car! Out back, he tri-tone taillights were a direct link to the previous cars and the subtle ducktail spoiler looks better than any wing ever could and doesn't upset the clean, mooth shape. The all-original interior showcases state-of-the-art in 1982, ffering comfortable cloth buckets seats that are grippy without being confining. Even the driver's seat remains in great shape, ith minimal wear and no rips, ven on the high-traffic bolster area. The three-spoke steering wheel frames a set of big, old gauges with dual needles on the speedometer for both English and metric speed readings, detail that looks pretty cool. The original AM/FM/cassette stereo is still in the dash and this car came loaded with quite a few options, ncluding factory A/C, ower windows and locks, nd a tilt steering column. And yes, ou're seeing that correctly: a 4-speed manual shifter, s the 5-speed was still a year or two away. The back seat looks virtually unused and the trunk area still offers the original T-top bags and hatch struts that are still doing their job properly. Nice! The LG4 305 cubic inch V8 was the standard engine in the Z/28 and while performance is modest by today's standards, his was a heck of a machine in 1982. It's also one of the most modification-friendly engines of all time, et this one remains completely stock, o you know it hasn't been raced or abused. The twin-snorkel air cleaner feeds a 4-barrel carburetor, o there's no ancient tech under there to give you headaches in the future. It's stone-cold reliable and still a lot of fun to drive with a fat torque curve and well-spaced ratios in the 4-speed gearbox. There are 3.23 gears out back, hich means it's a great highway cruiser, nd the recent exhaust system gives it a great V8 soundtrack that is easy on the ears. It's extremely clean underneath and the all-new suspension system under the 1982 Camaros made them some of the best-handling cars on the road at the time. Original 5-spoke aluminum wheels are in remarkable condition and carry 215/65/15 Goodyear Eagle radials all around.A lot of fun to drive, his awesome piece of Camaro history still offers a huge bang for the buck.
