Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 1956 Description
1956 Chevrolet 210 Townsman WagonThis is one of the best looking and running surf wagons around.
It is a very complete 'mechanical' restoration and I would have no issues getting in this car and driving it on long trips.
Here's a list of what's been done:
- Brakes: All steel and rubber lines have been replaced. New disc brake conversion up front and rebuilt stock drum brake cylinders in the rear. New power brake unit with dual reservoir, aster cylinder.
- Suspension: New dropped spindles and lowered coils in the front and lowering blocks in the rear.
- Engine: Fuel injected 5.7 TBI motor out of a 1994 Chevy Suburban (approximately 60k miles). Doesn't leak a drop and doesn't smoke. Stock ECM tune with custom wiring harness that ties into the gauges and the rest of the car. New alternator, ew battery, ew aluminum radiator and new SPAL electric fan, s well as the engine driven fan. New external fuel pump and all new fuel lines. Not exactly sure, ut I think it's gets about 18 mpg.
- Trans: Rebuilt turbo 350 with new U-joints and balanced driveshaft. Trans cooler built into the new aluminum radiator.
- Electrical: Custom wiring harness that ties into the ECM. Every wire in the car is new and all connectors are new, igh quality, EM style Metri-pack connectors. New blade style fuse block.
- Interior: New carpet, eadliner, eats and door panels. Inside was completely gutted and entire floor was rubber coated. Custom fabricated center console with Lokar shifter. New faux wood flooring in the cargo area. All interior trim pieces were media blasted and painted. All new felt channels around the windows and new weather-stripping on the doors. New windshield and rubber. New wing window rubber. All door components were cleaned and lubed so all the door hinges and latches and window cranks work well. Rear lift gate and tailgate retractors work well too. Rear glass rubber needs to be replaced because it leaks sometimes.
- Dash: New Dolphin gauges. When the interior was out, he dash was media blasted and painted. New Pioneer CD with remote.
- AC system: New compressor, ondenser, ryer and custom lines. Vintage underdash evaporator unit. System blows ice cold.
- Exterior: The car was probably painted about 20-30 years ago and has really cool patina. All trim and molding is there and has a very cool 'driver quality' look. The front sheet metal was removed and media blasted along with frame rails and firewall for paint. Also media blasted the engine fenderwells and core support and painted those as well. Basically, verything under the hood is like new. The body is almost rust free but some of the body supports underneath could use some work.
- Tires: New coker ties all the way around. I dont know the actual mileage because there was no speedometer in it when the car was restored. The new speedo reads under 4000 miles now.
