Chevrolet El Camino 1972 Description

You have to hand it to Chevy, hey really were at the top of their game when this 1972 El Camino was built. Where else could you go to get a car that could be outfitted as anything from a bare-bones workhorse to a sophisticated gentleman's express such as this handsome Cortez Silver Elky? Recently refinished and powered by a stout small block, his El Camino delivers big.As I said, ortez Silver is the color, nd it looks fantastic on the El Camino's trim bodywork, specially when paired with a matching black vinyl top and SS stripes. Maybe it spent a previous life working on a ranch somewhere, ut since the bodywork was done, t's been pampered and beautifully maintained, ith a great shine that stands up to scrutiny. A cowl induction hood was added, robably at the same time the truck/car was painted, nd the stripes use the factory pattern for a very correct look. Other dress-up items include a matching black tonneau cover, hich hides a nicely preserved bed that's been carpeted to essentially create the world's biggest trunk. Chrome is shiny, he grille is in great shape and wears a correct SS badge, nd the tailgate shows none of the usual bumps and bruises you'd expect from a vehicle that has worked for a living. This is a really nice car, r, ruck. The interior is your basic black, ut GM gave it an upscale look with handsome stitching on the seat covers. It's possible that the upholstery is original, nd if that's the case it's in fantastic shape with just a few minor signs of use and age. The carpets are surely new, ecause they just look too good to be 43 years old, nd the door panels are crisply rendered. The original instrument panel handles the basics, ut there's also a big tach mounted on the steering column, nd thanks to a column shifter, ou can squeeze three abreast in a pinch. The original radio is gone, eplaced by a modern AM/FM/CD unit that sounds great in the compact cab and if you need some extra indoor storage for your gear, here's a bit of room behind the seat that's actually quite useful. The powertrain is familiar, 350 cubic inch V8 and TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, nd that means you don't have to worry about having some fun. The engine itself got a once-over with a coat of Chevy Orange and a few chrome dress-up items make it look sharp. A dual reservoir master cylinder has been recently installed, nd power steering and brakes were standard equipment on the El Camino so it's easy to handle with a full load out back. There's also a new alternator plus an upgraded Edelbrock intake manifold and 4-barrel carburetor, o it's plenty entertaining on the road. Underneath, t's quite original but shows well after a lifetime someplace warm, nd a recent Flowmaster dual exhaust system gives it that muscle car sound. Handsome 14-inch SS wheels probably aren't original but they look awesome with fat 215/65/15 front and 275/60/15 rear white-letter radials wrapped around them.If a more refined look is more your speed, his El Camino has all the right ingredients. With a great all-of-a-piece look, t's just right to enjoy without worries, nd maybe you'll even put it to work now and then. Call today!
