Chevrolet Chevelle 1967 Description
1967 Chevelle SS 396 semi-survivor car. 65. 37 original miles. Car has been in the family for the past 33 years and was purchased from the original owner. Original owner’s manual . protection plan booklet with protect-o-plate. and maintenance folio. Build sheet may be in the car. not sure. Everything is original except for the engine. paint. and wheels. Car was re-painted in the early 80’s shortly after my dad purchased the car. original color retained (butternut yellow and black vinyl top). Still has a nice shine but is showing its age. Paint has “popped” along the driver side lower quarter panel. Few paint chips here and there. Look at the photos. this car is straight. Other than paint. car has never been restored. The original 396 was pulled in the 80’s (I do not have the 396) and replaced with a stronger running 454. Engine is mild with a marine performance cam. performer intake. and headers. Q-jet carb and MSD billet HEI distributor (I will include the original points distributor and coil). The front engine accessories and valve covers from the 396 were carried over to the 454. 3” mandrel bent TA performance exhaust with flowmaster mufflers dump before the rear end. I have the TA 3” tailpipes to run the exhaust all the way to the back. never been used. 12 bolt posi rear end with 2. 73 gear. Posi was rebuilt by Eaton a few years to fix a slipping issue. new HD springs and carbon fiber lined clutches installed. Original TH400 trans. Drum brakes all the way around. Weld drag-lite wheels with hoosier quick time DOT tires on the back. Even with the skinnies up front (weather checked). car drives extremely well. both on the highway and country roads. Steering/suspension is tight. During the 80’s and 90’s. the car would occasionally be driven to car shows and the dragstrip (mainly in the the fall) where it would run low 13 second ¼ mile times. Otherwise. just a street car that was rarely driven. Car has been driven only a handful of times over the past 15 years. Gas tank was removed and chemically cleaned inside and out. painted. and re-installed. This car features all of the original trim/badges (excellent condition). interior. etc. and has never been taken apart. aside from the engine swap. All original GM. not full of offshore re-manufactured parts. Car was not disassembled when it was repainted. Few tears in the original seat covers. Drivers side floor is rusted thru under the front seat. about a 3”x4” area and there is some rust in the center of the trunk under the mat. Will eventually require replacement. Enjoy this car as is today. or restore the way you want it.
