Chevrolet Camaro 1974 Description
My mother’s husband has asked me to sell his 1974 Camaro LT Z28. In many ways this car remains as he bought it when new. with just over 2800 miles on the car. We are listing the car as "under 3000 miles because Tom is driving the car a bit during the nice Spring weather we are having - a bit of a "goodbye". I guess. THIS IS A RELIST AUCTION. THE PREVIOUS AUCTION ENDED AT ~$30. 00 WITH A HIGH RESERVE. AND THE HIGH BIDDER HAD SET HIS MAX MUCH HIGHER (but eBay just incremented $100 over the previous high bid). THAT SAID. WE SEE WHERE BIDDING IS COMFORTABLE SO THE STARTING BID IS SET AT $30K AND THERE IS NO RESERVE. Read on for this car’s story. The car was bought new. and with 98 miles on it a built engine install was started. And then he got interested in duck hunting. The car remained under cover for 35 years with a 400 block ready for intake/exhaust finishing. The original 350 is wrapped in plastic and on the stand it was mounted to 40 years ago. After much goading he had the car finished a few years ago. with the work completed by Camaro Specialties in East Aurora. NY. Current setup is a 4-bolt 400 block bored . 030 over with a Hank The Crank forged crank with a 350 stroke resulting in a 377 cu. in. . mated via a Lakewood bell housing to the original Borg Warner close ratio (2. 43 1st) Super T10 and a 3. 73 posi rear. Turbo heads. GM #3965784 (ported. polished. cc’d) angled plug heads. 10. 5:1 pistons. Crane Zip 510 cam. Cloyes true roller chain. solid lifters. Norris stainless adjustable rockers. Jomar stud girdle. Edelbrock Victor Jr. manifold. Holley 750 double pumper. Hooker headers and Flowmaster mufflers. original wheels with BFG’s. Other changes include stiffer front springs. adjustable shocks. and solid body mount bushings. The exterior and interior are as delivered new with the exception that the sub-frames and firewall have been painted black Imron. Otherwise. never painted. no factory blemishes have been corrected. the tinted glass is original. the electric windows operate properly. You get a car just as it was delivered to Tom as new - never painted. never retouched. never driven in rain. certainly never in snow. garage kept under cover. and genuinely coddled. All removed original parts are packed and included (engine. springs. bushings. etc). Also included are the 1974 Camaro Brochure. original window sticker. Owner’s Manual. Maintenance booklet. Service Manual. Overhaul Manual. and Fisher Body Service Manual. Additional literature included are a ’73-’74 Chevelle / Nova / Camaro parts catalog. a ’75 overhaul manual. and for ’70 Camaro a Service Manual. Overhaul Manual. Chassis Service and Overhaul Supplement. Fisher Body Service Manual. and Fisher Body “F” Service Manual. Nearing 80 years of age has prompted the sale of the car. Located outside Buffalo. NY. the car is available for viewing by appointment. It has been driven to a few shine and show events the past few summers. but otherwise is not driven much except for the occasional ice cream cone. Feel free to call Camaro Specialties and ask about the car. I recall a comment that they had their Carlisle judge friends come see the car so they could “recalibrate” their benchmark. My involvement started about 20 years ago when my mother and the Tom were getting married. I saw a covered car in his third garage bay and inquired. He beckoned. I rolled the cover off what was clearly a Camaro/Firebird shape not prepared for what was underneath. The front clip was off. the frame rails and firewall had fresh black Imron. and a short block in a cool dark mustard yellow color sat with machined blanking plates over all ports. I kept rolling the cover back and saw that it was a Camaro. I opened the door and it just slid open without dropping the inch that every Camaro I had ever opened had done. I think I opened and closed the door four or five times just to see it stay aligned and click shut quietly. I sat inside and commented on the quality of the interior work. and then I saw the odometer at 00098. I said. "You got the interior to look this fresh after 100. 98 miles?". Tom said. "Nope. it never turned over". "Are you telling me this car has under a hundred miles and has sat on these jack stands since then???". "Yup. I got into duck hunting and never looked back". It took another 15 years of goading to get Tom to finish the car.
