Chevrolet Other Pickups 1966 Description
YOU ARE LOOKING AT A 1966 CHEY K-20 3/4 TON 4X4 PICK UP. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START WITH THIS TRUCK. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FRAME AND BODY. NOT A TRANSPLANT. I BOUGHT IT FROM THE WIDOW OF THE SECOND OWNER. I THINK HE BOUGHT IT IN 1969. IT'S AN ORIGINAL SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BLACK PLATE TRUCK. THE OWNER BUILT THIS TRUCK AND DROVE IT SEVERAL TIMES TO THE BAJA 1000 IN MEXICO IN THE 70'S AND 80'S. IT'S AN OLDER RESTORATION. BUT PRETTY WELL DONE. IT HAS A TH 350 AUTO TRANS WITH AN N. P. 205 TRANSFER CASE. THE TRANSFER CASE WAS REBUILT JUST BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY. THE ELECTRICAL IN IT IS PRETTY CLEAN. THIS TRUCK HAS EVERY GAUGE KNOWN TO MAN. FROM FUEL PUMP PRESSURE. TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE. OIL TEMPERATURE. AMPS. . ETC. MOST OF THESE GAUGES ARE MOUNTED IN A CUSTOM MADE CONSOLE WHICH IS ABOVE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS CONSOLE WAS PROFESSIONALLY BUILT OF SHEET METAL AND WAS MADE EXTREMELY WELL. IT HAS A DANA 44 FRONT AXEL WITH SPICER LOCKING HUBS AND DISC BRAKES. AT SOME POINT HE PUT A DANA 70 ONE TON REAR END IN IT. IT HAS A NEW DRIVE SHAFT TO THE REAR AND A PTO DRIVEN WENCH. ONE OF THE FEATURES THAT I LIKE ABOUT IT IS THAT IT HAS A CADILLAC STEERING COLUMN WITH A CUSTOM STEERING WHEEL BUILT FOR IT THAT BOTH TILTS AND TELESCOPES. IT HAS A FORD MUSTANG FLOOR SHIFTER FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THESE WERE INSTALLED WELL. NOT COBBLED TOGETHER. NOTHING IN THIS TRUCK IS COBBLED TOGETHER. IT JUST NEEDS SOME TLC. THE INTERIOR IS BUCKET SEATS (WITH ARM RESTS THAT CAN BE POSITIONED UP OR DOWN) AND CARPETING-HENCE BUILT IN THE 70'S. IT HAS A 454 CUBIC INCH CHEVY ENGINE. IT HAS A HOLLY 4 BARREL CARBURETOR THAT I RECENTLY HAD PROFESSIONALLY REBUILT. IT HAS POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. IT HAS 3 GAS TANKS: 2 SIDE TANKS AND ONE REAR TANK. THE REAR TANK IS A 50 GALLON CUSTOM MADE STAINLESS STEEL TANK. WHICH WHEN I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK. I TOOK IT OUT AND HAD IT FLUSHED. THERE IS A PICTURE OF THIS TANK INCLUDED IN POSTED PICTURES. THE 2 SIDE TANKS WILL NEED TO HAVE THE SAME THING DONE TO THEM. I INSTALLED A NEW SENDING UNIT FOR THE REAR GAS TANK. BUT IT APPEARS THAT THE GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. THIS TRUCK IS SET UP WITH DUAL BATTERIES. BOTH BATTERIES ARE NEW. I ALSO PUT A NEW FUEL PUMP IN IT. THERE IS SOME SLIGHT CLOUDING IN THE LOWER PART OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. BUT ASIDE FROM THAT ALL THE GLASS IS FINE. THERE IS SOME SURFACE RUST. BUT EVERYTHING APPEARS TO BE SOLID. IT HAS AN OLDER (60's ?) MARK IV AIR CONDITIONER THAT BLOWS. BUT THE AIR DOES NOT GET COLD. AS I SAID BEFORE. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM HAS HAD A LOT OF REWIREING DONE TO IT. IT IS ALL CLEAN AND NEAT. BUT THE WHOLE TRUCK NEEDS TO BE GONE OVER BECAUSE THIS TRUCK SAT FOR MANY YEARS AFTER THE PREVIOUS OWNER DIED AND BEFORE HIS WIDOW SOLD IT TO ME. I HAVE A LARGE FILE OF PAPERWORK THAT INCLUDES THE BUILD SHEET FOR THE CURRENT MOTOR AND JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING THAT WAS EVER DONE AND THE MONEY THAT WAS SPENT FOR THIS TRUCK. THIS IS THE MOST COMPLETE DOCUMENTATION OF ANY VEHICLE THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE TRUCK STARTS AND SEEMS TO RUN SHIFT AND DRIVE WELL. BUT I HAVE ONLY DRIVEN IT AROUND OUR LARGE PROPERTY. THE BRAKES AND STEERING WORK WELL. THE TIRES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. BUT THEY ARE OLDER TIRES. I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT MILEAGE ON THIS TRUCK. I AM SURE THAT THE ODOMETER HAS BEEN TURNED. I HAVE HAD IT IN NON-OP AND THERE ARE NO BACK FEES OWED TO DMV. IN MY OPINION THOUGH. BEFORE TAKING THIS TRUCK OUT ON THE ROAD. IT SHOULD BE GONE OVER REAL WELL (I. E. RADIATOR HOSES. ETC. ) I HAVE ALL THE KEYS FOR THE DOORS AND THE TOPPER. THE PRIOR OWNER'S WIDOW TOLD ME THAT THIS TRUCK WAS HIS "BABY" AND HE LOVED IT MORE THAN ANYTHING. I WOULD LOVE TO KEEP THIS TRUCK. BUT MY WIFE IS TELLING ME THAT I NEED TO GET RID OF ONE OF MY 4 WHEEL DRIVES. I HAVE 4 OTHERS. WOMEN! THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY TRUCKS!THE TRUCK IS LOCATED IN LANCASTER. CALIFORNIA 93536. IF YOU WANT TO COME LOOK AT IT. LOCAL PICK UP OR BUYER MUST ARRANGE AND PAY FOR ALL SHIPPING COSTS. SALE WILL GO THROUGH EBAY. BUT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS THE TRUCK FURTHER YOU CAN CALL ME- BOB (818) 205-5828. OR IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS YOU CAN ALSO CONTACT ME THROUGH MY EBAY. THIS TRUCK WILL BE ALSO UP FOR SALE LOCALLY. SO UP UNTIL THERE HAS BEEN AN ACTUAL BID RECEIVED.
