Chevrolet Corvette 1974 Description
A lot of guys claim they just want a Corvette to drive. Well, here it is. With a strong 350 cubic inch V8, two tops, and a load of options, this 1974 Chevrolet Corvette roadster is made for the road. Guys shopping for trailer queens and paperwork collectors can go somewhere else, because we're having too much fun putting this one through its paces! If you look at the paint charts, you'll see that GM called this particular shade code 68 "Dark Brown." So it's not the most creative name but the color looks right on the mid-70s Corvette curves. This one is driver-grade throughout, and there's no shame in that. Get bugs on it, drive it in the rain, and generally have some fun, it doesn't mind. It's nice enough to happily soak up all the attention you'll give it on a Saturday afternoon, polishing and waxing the sleek bodywork, and unlike many Corvettes of the era, this one fits together well and all the panels line up right, so someone was paying attention when it went together. Both the front and rear bumpers are new fiberglass reproductions, so they will hold up a lot better than the original urethane pieces. The point is, this is a good-looking car that doesn't need a lot of fussing, and given the long list of replacement parts under the skin, it's pretty clear that someone invested a lot of time and effort on the car to make it right. The headlight doors work properly, the badges are shiny, the front grilles aren't beat up and bent, and, well, the car looks great without being a parody of itself like so many other C3s.The code 416 saddle leather interior is also correct for this particular car, and there's a lot of new stuff in this driver's compartment. Seat covers, carpets, console, door panels, and dash pad all appear to be recent replacement and there's new foam underneath those seat covers, so they're supportive and comfortable on long hauls. Other goodies include cold A/C with an R134a refrigerant upgrade, a tilt/telescope steering column, power windows, and a later AM/FM stereo in the stock location (the original radio is available if you want it). As a convertible, it's especially important that the weather-stripping is new, and this is one ragtop that's surprisingly devoid of creaks and rattles, suggesting it's lived an easy life. It also includes a tan convertible top and a color-matched hardtop that snugs down tight! The original, numbers-matching 350 cubic inch V8 still lives under the cowl-induction hood. The list of new mechanical equipment is a page long, so call us for all the details, but the highlights include a a new radiator, water pump, fan clutch, A/C service, and a great-sounding Magnaflow exhaust system. A set of finned valve covers add a racy look and yes, the cowl-induction setup is operational. Chevy orange paint adds a little contrast to the all-business engine bay, and while it's not show-quality, you won't hesitate to just get out and drive. Underneath, the TH400 3-speed automatic transmission feeds a 3.08 rear end, so it's an effortless cruiser and that powerful engine doesn't mind the relatively tall gears. It tracks straight, stops smoothly, and just goes about its business the way you'd expect. Shiny chrome Torque Thrust wheels make this one stand out from the crowd a little bit and they 235/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials that have plenty of life left in them. This is a nicely finished and highly optioned 'Vette that moves like a much younger car. There's obviously lots more than the asking price tied up in it, so don't hesitate and call today!
