Chevrolet Camaro 1968 Description
Selling for a friend who is focusing his time and money into one vehicle. He purchased this 1968 Camaro from his brother-in-law 2 years ago. His brother-in-law was the second owner when he bought it in the early 1980's and converted the car into a high performance street race car. While the vehicle has Z/28 badging on the front fenders; the original drive train was replaced with its current configuration for the past 25+ years. The ORIGINAL glove box door retains the tire pressure decal (Part # 3934882) which was UNIQUE to the 1968 Z/28 cars which lists the tire letter code of "AY" which related to the E70 x 15" tires. Note the RED inked "HOT" tire pressure listings to the far right of the decal as shown in the 15th photo. The interior dash panel has not been cut up, ut the heater controls, adio and center console are missing. The dash pad and rear seat look good, ut the driver seat needs reupholstering along with new headliner and carpet.
The exterior of the car shows the wear of an older paint and body work as there are paint chips and bondo cracking around the car as seen on the drivers side door and front fender, oof and trunk. The rear spoiler has been molded into the trunk lid. There is a spot of rust on the passenger side rear door rocker shown in the photo. Frame connectors added to the car for traction had portions of the floor removed as seen in the photos with rear carpet pulled back. Overall, he car is very solid; the doors close snug with no sagging.
The engine is a built 355 Small Block Chevy engine with cast Dart 1001-OP Heads, aluminum air gap high rise intake manifold and Demon Double Pump carburetor. Mallory 6AL ignition, &M Pro Rachet Shifter on top of a 2500 RPM Stall Converted Automatic transmission. The 10 Bolt Posi rear end has new axles with 4.10/4.11 gears, ew leaf springs, ew trac bars and frame connectors. The engine runs strong and shifts as it should. Disc brakes up front; yet they appear to have single piston calipers.
The original fuel tank has been removed with an aluminum race tank installed in the truck along with remote battery and exterior power cut off switch located in original fuel tank gas cap location. Centerline Convo Pro aluminum wheels with Mickey Thompson rubber.
The body shows paint chips and cracking from over 25 years since being built in the 80's, his is NOT a show car, ut a great foundation for a restoration or street preformance. Please check out all photos and view videos of walk around the vehicle and of the engine running.
