Chevrolet C/K Pickup 1500 1987 Description
1987 1500 CK 4 Speed Pick Up TruckBought this truck a while back to restore but just don’t have the time. This truck originated from and was maintained by the National Park Service in Coulee Dam Washington. Just prior to selling it they put a new clutch, clutch slave cylinder, new front brake calipers, rear brakes, tires and muffler on it. The engine is the original V-8 L03 305 CID with the 081 cylinder heads and electronic fuel injection. 1987 is when GM started the engine and fuel system upgrades for the L03 305 CID engines. The differential is a highway .256 gear ratio with a M465 4 speed manual transmission. The air conditioning system is still sealed and unadulterated. It will need servicing to bring it back to cold. The compressor clutch turns freely.
33,000 original miles. This truck starts, runs, steers, shifts and drives very well with all the gauges working. The engine runs very quiet and smooth. No smoke at all even on cold starts, burns very clean. Mechanically this truck can be driven cross country. All the way around the truck feels tight with no squeaks or rattles. Pro’s: The truck is perfect for an inexpensive restoration because it’s all original, sheet metal is very straight, galvanized bed, cab, door panels and gauge cluster is clean. Both doors open and close tight, no alignment needed. Window regulators function well. Cons: The dash board needs to be covered or replaced. The window weather seal and vent seal on the driver’s side need replacing. Rear tailgate handle needs adjustment but opens and closes fine. I'm sure you realize by the images that it could use a paint job. Back in the 80's the factory clear coat had a habit to flake off. All in all the body is in good shape considering it's 30 years old, and soon to be a real classic. Indeed this is a more rare truck to find with an original low mileage L03 engine. The heater core was bypassed by the National Park Service garage and needs to be replaced.
