Drivetrain- completely rebuilt period correct 396 block (3955272) updated to L78 375 HP spec - less than 100 miles on rebuild. I have all bills to show work that was done.- correct factory GM aluminum Winters heads. Completely restored at time of engine rebuild.- correct restored GM Winters aluminum intake (3933163)- rebuilt factory M21 GM Muncie 4-speed transmission- rebuilt powder coated 12 bolt rear end with 3:42 gears- front and rear factory sway bars- restored, balanced drive shaft- complete new exhaust system with Headman Elite headers, stainless steel exhaust pipes, Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers and correct GM chrome exhaust tips.- under the hood was completely restored and is in show room condition.- all new brake lines, fuel line, gas tank and straps, brakes pads and rotors. Standard power GM discs on the front, drums on the rear, power steering.- GM steering box was restored and upgraded to a quick ratio steering application. The steering is a little more firm and goes pin to pin in three full turns.
Exterior- factory colour was dark green with black vinyl top. It is now Cortez Silver that was cut and polished for a mirror finish.- the car retains all of it's original sheet metal with the exception of new full rear Goodmark replacement quarter panels.- factory correct 14" x 7" GM rally wheels with 225 70R14 tires.- correct factory stripe down the sides of the car.- new Goodmark bumpers, front grill, headlight trim, tail lights and trim, and emblems. Window reveal moldings are GM pieces that have been restored and polished.- theframe and all suspension components have been powder coated, and features tubular "A" arms and Pure Muscle rear control trailing arms.
Interior- all original GM black interior has been freshened up where needed.- factory AC car with factory original tinted glass all around. New front windshield and rear glass were installed. All side glass is original to the car.
What's Left- AC needs to be finished off. I have a compressor that will come with the car, and three of the five brackets for it. There is a new evaporator core and heater core in the car. All of the factory wiring harness is there to complete the installation. I don't have a condenser or dryer for the car. I have the two AC hoses for the car as well. These are the original GM hoses.- there is no radio in the car, but there is a new antenna- the tires are decent enough but are approximately 1/2 worn
I have the reserve set well below my investment into this car. Personal matters are forcing me to sell it now. I am sure I am missing things in the description. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I can provide a video of the car running if that helps. The car is also for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. I am also willing to help with shipping (working with any shipping arrangements you make) to get the car to you. $1000 dollar payment to be made upon purchase, with the balance to be received within 14 days of the sale. Cash in person, bank wire or certified bank drafts for final payment.
Unfortunately, I do not have any kind of documentation to prove that this is an original SS396 Chevelle. I have pictures of the car prior to the restoration that clearly show the big block in the car, as well as the factory AC. The engine was rebuilt to 375 HP spec but the car is not an original L78 car. You could not get them with factory AC from GM...at least according to everything I have read about the L78 cars in the day. There is no warranty of any kind with the purchase of this car. Having said that, this is an excellent turn key car that is a pleasure to drive, and draws crowds at every car show and cruise night.
Thanks for looking! Happy bidding.
